Hi everyone,

Just figured out that I have Aspergers, very late in life. All the random pieces of loss and confusion make sense now. I am glad to know, but at the same time it's completely terrifying. I have never felt so alone. Just got fired (again) -- it's just rejection, rejection, rejection, when I try so hard and mean so well. By reaching out on this forum, I hope it will help with being overwhelmed.

Welcome. How did you learn you have Asperger's?

Yup, lots of us here who figured it out late.

I got diagnosed late, right in the middle of a major crisis in my life. I have days when I feel I'm nothing more than my aspergers and that it defines my entire life, other days I think to myself, "it's just a label, I'm me and it's not aspergers, it's just everything I've been through has made me this way." I'm no more or less confused than I was before, but I do feel that if I'm forced back into interacting with society then at least I can now say "I'm an Aspie" to excuse my poor social skills and general awkwardness.
