Why would a person say "spaz attack"about himself, wouldn't he say meltdown? I have heard that expression "Spaz" used by thugs in England who were laughing at a kid with polio in calipers. Remember Forest Gump?
It is consdered a very serious insult. Why would OP use it on himself?

OP are your family or anyone else calling you 'spaz" and being abusive?

I have tried telling her several times I have autism, and not only autism but also adhd, psychosis, and depression. I don't know why that's on her mind when I'm talking to her. I go to this website to find friends to confide in and talk to. I am here to find someone I can relate to as well. I was suggested this website from another forum when I told them I was struggling with autism and need someone to talk to about it. I don't know what it is. I get that I sound and look normal to her, but autistics can look and sound normal. I hope I'm not masking. Another thing that started this was that I started asking her what her opinion was on the posts and comments I write on this website so that I at least sound like I'm a nice person and not a jerk, and that was because I was afraid of being banned from this website.

Are you even diagnosed? If so, ignore her and I am sorry she is being dismissive of your problems.

It's called taking back the word. Black people use the N word on themselves all the time so why can't we take back our words and use it on ourselves? I would like to call myself a ret*d because I was called ret*d a lot as a child but I am afraid I would be chased with pitchforks if I called myself it.

Ahh, I see. You are not a ret*d so why would you label yourself as such? That's not what I want for you :D

ret*d isn't limited to intelligence. ret*d literally means delayed so there is social retardation. We can be ret*d in other things like with social skills or emotions or language.

I don't want my parents/grandparents to know I am on any particular site at all. And it has nothing to do with whether this is autism site or not. Its just that I don't want them to read all my secrets. I am glad they don't use facebook or else I wouldn't have been able to use it. So yeah, my recommendation for you is to quit this site and find some other site -- or if you want to stay here, then change a name or something.

As far as her telling you you don't have autism, thats a different story. I envy you here. Back in the 90-s people used to tell me I don't have it; but not any more, now everyone knows I have it and I am the one who has to tell them to treat me like a normal person. So I really wish I was in your shoes on that one. It always puzzles me why
autistics that are told that don't appreciate it the way I would. I guess grass is greener on the other side.

But still, quit this site. Autism or not, you don't want your parents/grandparents to be reading your posts. I know I wouldn't.

Most folks don't parse it that way.

"ret*d" means "mentally ret*d" to most folks. So if you go around saying then that about yourself that is the meaning it will have to your audience.

Because they'd rather deny reality than confront it. It's typical of parents who don't want to face that they've failed their offspring. My parents did the same until they had no choice but to concede to reality. Can you find a big enough cudgel to smack them into acceptance? (In my case sitting them down with the doctor I was seeing and doing the diagnostic inventory helped them start to understand that I was right all along, but the people you're hoping to convince might have their backs up even more than the people I needed to convince did).

I was commenting as I read through, I hadn't gotten to the end yet. 8)
