I don't even know where to start! Logical answers aren't what I need. I need the most gentle, supportive conversation that I can get.
I'm plagued with anxiety over all that is going on in my life. First of all, my apartment is being treated for bed bugs. I have a neighbor that is a hoarder, and is apparently also prostituting. I overheard the conversation between the one of the maintenance crew and the neighbor's case manager, and it's good that they're in the process of rectifying that matter - however, her mess and negligence is spilling over into MY unit. In the process of addressing the resulting issues, the very irresponsible management in my building is telling me what I need to do, and then not telling me how I need to go about it. I started to get emotional (crying) on the phone while talking to the lady at the main office, and she said "Go F*** yourself" and hung up the phone on me! Yes the exterminator showed up, I had to throw away all of my furniture, and I'm sleeping on the floor - I have to live like this until all of the treatments are finished. It wouldn't make any sense for me to get new furniture, until I'm given the "All-Clear." And even after that, the risk is very high that the bugs would return. I have a very bad back, and I had surgery a year ago to repair a retinal detachment - after which my recovery stalled, and the little vision I have left is not going to get better than it has -- leaving me 80% blind in one eye. And then, I have a molar that part of the filling fell out of, and having not been to a dentist in many years, not only am I terrified that this tooth would have to be extracted, but I'm terrified that they might want to extract ALL of my teeth - and that would be devastating! As it would be if they only had to extract just the one tooth! That situation has been plaguing me for over a year. I'M HORRIFIED! I need some very gentle, understanding people right now - I'm in a horrible place! I have panic attacks, and I cry every day! PLEASE HELP!

Try not to worry. The tooth. See a dentist first. Then ask if you can be put to sleep to have any work done. I was scared at the though of being put to sleep, but it really was a case of one minute I was awake, and then I woke up again.. Job done!
But one thing at a time. All is ok.

Is there any way I can talk to a dentist who might be able to fix it -- i'm not worried about the paqin - im more worried about him needing to extract it! I CAN"T have to lose ANY teeth! I can't explain why but my reasons are overwhelmingly embarrassing to discuss! This is a "Who do I turn to" situation!

I am not sure how things work in the USA. I am in the UK. But it is an idea if you can get a dentist to take a look just to tell you what needs doing. It can be that the tooth can be saved.

USA member here. Go talk to your dentists if you can find one, and get that squared away. That will be a load off your mind.

I had to get a tooth removed once. My teeth are so crooked they could claim British citizenship...I wasn't going to pay $4000 for braces just to have fancy teeth when regular crooked ones would do.

Hopefully you can get that straight--they might pull it or they might be able to save it, but do get the full sedation if you are afraid of dentists. I did not. Now I can remember telling the dentists all about the life & times of St. Nicholas of Myra while stoned out of my mind on Novocaine.

After that go see about your eye, and hopefully this will all go better. I'm sorry to hear this is going poorly for you.

Dear SP - I’m so sorry to read of all that has happened to you. A family member had 3 retinal tears last year, and needed laser surgery to close them, and that was stressful enough on its own, to-ing and fro-ing from hospitals and not knowing whether sight would be fully restored or not. So, my heart truly goes out to you for having to endure the sightloss, as well as the terrible anxiety and panic attacks. I’ve spent some time in the US, living there, and am due to return for a bit soon. A family member had a pretty terrible dental experience in Connecticut, and vowed never to return to that Dentist ever again. Quite sure there must be plenty of good dentists out there, and hope you find the strength to make an appointment and have this looked at. Remember that you have the right to choose here, so far as options go on what is done in regard this tooth, or any of your other teeth. I hope there might be someone who could drive you there, be a support to you, and get you home safely again.

I’m really concerned about your anxiety levels and the fact you’re having panic attacks. I’m naturally wondering if you’ve been prescribed anything at all to help with this, and have any solid support there. Like I said, my heart truly goes out to you. You’re dealing with so much, and the sight loss alone is huge! You’re an extremely talented artist. I’ve seen your work and it blows me away! Can’t begin to imagine the impact and stress that your back pain, apartment situation at the moment and all of this combined is having on you. It will be alright ... it can’t get much harder, right? So, a simple plan of action. Please get this tooth looked at. ASAP. That’s a start (as MG and Borromeo mentioned.) Pain just makes everything worse. Once that’s taken care of, if you need to talk about the anxiety, panic attacks, we’re here. Sending hugs and just know that we do care and want to see you feeling better, coping better with your life. {{{{{Hugs}}}}}
