I ordered groceries, I cleaned them, my thumb was hurting (I have arthritis in my thumb, side of my hand, my wrist, my back & my shoulders) my leg was badly hurting, going back & foreword to clean,I could feel my bones. I got all worked up. I’m trying to be very carefully with handling my groceries, I keep touching bags, I keep touching frozen meals. This is VERY VERY HARD! I don’t want to do it anymore. How can I live the rest of my life if I can be miserable in my life? I was crying, I almost threw up, I kept saying I want to die, I want to have a heart attack, a painless death.

Are you wearing gloves whilst cleaning your groceries?

I do: it makes it much less stressful because I don’t have to worry about touching them.

I also sit on the floor with the groceries on one side of me, and put them on the other side one at a time as I clean them.

So when I put them away I can pick several up at once and don’t have to walk about so much.

(I didn’t work that out for myself: Mrs K told me to do it like that when she saw I was taking ages and getting stressed out by it)

Hey Kitty. Whenever we get groceries we do this: first put them on a newspaper on the ground at the balcony. Open the windows so fresh air can get in. For things that you don't have to refrigerate immediately you can leave these things there, and wash them later.
I hope you are feeling better now. My therapist sent me a video about mental health on quaerantine days but sadly its not in english. I wish i could send you that..

I ask that my groceries be delivered in boxes. They leave the boxes outside. I pick them up with gloves and a mask and move them to the cold storage room in my cellar. I have big plastic bins in there and I just set the boxes inside, so they aren't directly on the ground.

The boxes are presorted when they arrive, so anything that is perishable or needs to be frozen goes in the kitchen where I disinfect it and remove all the packaging. I take photos of any cooking instructions from the packaging before I discard of it. I turn any bags inside out and put them straight into recycle.

The stuff in my cold storage waits a few days and then I wash and discard the packaging of each thing one at a time as I use it.
