It's really gotten bad lately. I'm so afraid I might lose her. She's always taken care of me and I don't know what I'll do without her if something happens. :(

What sort of health problem does your mother have?

I would re-watch Forrest Gump. Especially the scene where his mother lies in bed and tells Forrest she’s not long for this world.

In the past few years she had two heart surgeries but lately she developed something called celiac disease and has to be on a gluten free diet the rest of her life. She also has had leaky blood vessels in her small intestines and the doctors talked about doing surgery on her if it does not heal. She also has anemia and a sleep disorder. She now has to be on a breathing machine at night when she sleeps. It's so bad now she's not supposed to drive anymore and she has to work from home but she is afraid of losing her job. :(

I’m sorry your mother has these health problems, and feels in danger of losing her job.

Will she have to come to her job, eventually?

Do you have a job, at present?

From what you told me, it’s possible that your mother will live many more years.

I'm on disability and can't work, and my Mom is my payee.

Maybe if the doctor Ok's it she can drive again and go back to work?

My Mom was the one who told me she could potentially die from all this. That scares me. :(

Me too. I feel like I've been a terrible son to her. Selfish and self-centered. :(

Looking at all these symptoms together it sounds like Crohn's disease.

Crohn's causes the same cramping as Celiac but in addition
it causes the shortness of breath, loss of blood and anemia that you describe.

Quote:
The symptoms of Crohn’s disease often develop gradually. Certain symptoms may also become worse over time. Although it’s possible, it’s rare for symptoms to develop suddenly and dramatically. The earliest symptoms of Crohn’s disease can include:

diarrhea
abdominal cramps
blood in your stool
a fever
fatigue
loss of appetite
weight loss
feeling as if your bowels aren’t empty after a bowel movement
feeling a frequent need for bowel movements

Quote:
The symptoms may become more severe as the disease progresses. More troublesome symptoms may include:

a perianal fistula, which causes pain and drainage near your anus
ulcers that may occur anywhere from the mouth to the anus
inflammation of the joints and skin
shortness of breath or decreased ability to exercise due to anemia

My mother has had Crohn’s Disease for many years.

It sucks—but you rarely die from it.

This is an opportunity to prove to your mother that you care about her. Be a good son to her. Listen to her complaints. Don’t be too difficult with her. Give her the benefit of the doubt.

I dunno, it could be. But only a doctor can diagnose her.

Know what's really strange? I know most of you guys are not into Vedic Astrology, but check out what Ketu in my 4th House means. Too spooky... :|

I just asked my Mom and she says the doctors already tested her for Crohn's Disease but it turned out negative.

Is possible per chance that after having undergone two bouts of surgery that the antibiotics involved have wiped out the requisite gut flora colony numbers to digest gluten and hence causing the celiac disease ~ with gluten being a resource for genetic binding. I get wheat intolerance myself due to the stress-cortisol thing so I bump up my gut flora levels with capsules and culture products so I can get a minimal amount of gluten in me. Also on account of leaky gut that comes with being an aspergenic stressor type, I found that chicken bone broth sorts that out ~ and if you don't like preparing it; some sell it to buy or you can get it as a powder formula to mix with milk or water which is what I do, so maybe worth a try perhaps.

Obviously ~ seek guidance from a qualified health professional as I did.

Anyway I hope all goes well and this is but a temporary glitch towards better outcomes,
have a good one and may it result in many many more! :D

Well she's also had other surgeries in addition to the two heart surgeries. Gallbladder surgery and Appendix surgery.

I don't know what I'll do without my Mom if something happens to her. It's a cold merciless world out there. :(
