Not having the skills to go vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian...
Having issues with food sucks. I say “issues with food” and not “eating disorder” because I’m semi-recovered, mostly recovered for now actually. But telling myself I can’t have something, even for environmental reasons, sends me out of control.
I want to eventually go vegan, or almost vegan with occasional animal products if that doesn’t work. Leaning towards 70 percent plant-based as an end goal, but part of me wants to go further than that. I just can’t talk to a therapist about it because they would say it’s not a good idea—so I have to rebel on my own.
It’s hard. I did figure out a few things about nutrition having to do with it from failed attempts such as—
1. Sugar, processed foods, and convenience have to scale down before animal products do if you want to be healthy. There’s something about convenience and sugar/refined carbs that is the root of why most people eat animal products all the time—animal products are the tip of the iceberg.
2. Focusing on addition, instead of restriction, helps, as in enjoying the new plant-based foods and not calling them “meatless” but just “food.”
3. Remembering your why.
4. Taking small steps towards eating more plant-based than you’d like to, even if you still eat animal products—taking those steps DAILY—helps.
I have been using the "Beyond Meat" products for about a year. They are all-vegetable foods, and I actually like the taste. A little olive oil, some salt and pepper, and even their burgers fry up nicely.

Lol long story won’t eat that...but thank you for the advice! I might try a different meat substitute.
