Center yourself ...... notice you are in a ‘room ‘. Not anywhere else , if you are sitting down notice how you are sitting , we are changing your focus , if you are near a soft blanket , touch it notice it’s colour , how it feels to your skin , consciously feel it , then. Look up at a corner of the room nothing else just that corner notice about it’s colour how that colour appears to you . If you have something you hold , hold onto it feel it’s shape run your fingers over it , is it soft smooth or a rough surface . How does if feel to you .? You get the general idea. Things near you in your immediate reality need to be noticed intensely .. break your concentration ...

Magz it is completely quiet right now. It is never quiet in this house but right now it's quiet. All I can hear is my heartbeat and breathing.

I do something similar it's a grounding technique. I call it 5 to 1. You go through your sense. So you list
5 things you see
4 things you hear
3 thing you feel
2 things you smell
1 thing you taste

I use that but as I stop I am recaptured by the same feelings I just got relief from.

Having a grounding technique is a very smart and handy thing to have in list of things to get past attacks. Like that.
