When I'm on twitter - I'm either fine or sad/angry about something external like the pandemic/politics etc
When I'm with a parent - I'm fine
With both of them - fine
With granddad - fine
When I'm texting my dad - I'm either fine or worried about him
When I'm alone - I'm fine.
When I'm on here - I feel like I should hate myself and I don't. Or like I should be miserable even though my life isn't miserable.

I really wish I didn't have an addictive type personality cos if I didn't or if this site had a delete account button, I'd just quit.

Only thing that would improve my life is if I was allowed to go to museums and do my hobbies outside the home again. But that's due to the pandemic that can't happen esp w mum being high risk.

I wish this place could just take someone's admission that they like themselves and that they're happy and that they have a good life and listen to that and go 'good'.

Looks like you might be rather frustrated right now.

Nah.

Frustrated with the site.

Not with my life or myself.

Yes, there are plenty of good things to discuss and this will calm down the autonomic nervous system by discussing the positive things in our lives that we all have.

There are different areas of WP; The Haven is where we express our sadness and confusion and loneliness.
This is where we are looking for sympathy and commiseration.
This is a room where we go when we feel bad.
There are more conversational ‘rooms’ to visit if you are not looking for emotional support or looking to support and encourage others.

It's happening on the main autism forum but you're right.

I think the main autism forum is mostly for people who feel they 'suffer' from autism.

The Haven is for real problems or just when someone is feeling down. Makes sense and I've used it for that.

The rest of the site is for talking about other things but I tend to get insulted on them for using paragraphs to talk to someone on a forum rather than tweeting at them. If everything had to be tweet length, we'd be given a character limit.

WP is for Autistics and Aspies to connect and express ourselves.
If you need 50 words to say something, that is your expression; criticizism of terminology, viewpoints, or apparent verbosity is NOT what any of us are looking for when we come here.
I would answer any such criticism one time, and if it happens again, contact a mod.

Thanks, I will do that in future.

I was told I was 'writing an essay' and they weren't interested in being 'politically correct'.

I tried explaining that's how I express myself as an autistic person but they said 'well I'm autistic and I don't do it'...

People find it hard to realise that autism is different things in different people. I'm hyperlexic.

I got accused of thinking I'm superior to others. I have politically incorrect views on that. I believe that people can be superior in different areas. My motor skills are inferior to other people but my vocabulary is superior. Nobody is inherently superior/inferior but we can have skills that are and it's ok to acknowledge that.

Also, nobody is perfect.

So if you're going to sit around thinking about the ways you're inferior to others and not about your strengths, you will be miserable.

Doesn't make you disabled.

Although it does contribute poorly to mental health and that might end up making you disabled in that way.

You don't know me obviously. Hey - the art of liking WP is looking for the right ones to write with and ignoring the rest. There are many people who are looking for answers, lots of depressive people, people with mental, physical or social problems and many bored people. But there are also some people who are just fun to write with.

I am actually addicted to WP. It's something I check each time I pick up my phone, so if I was a mod I would always be here.

I do have an impulsive habit of letting my thoughts out into the open, which is why I post here so much. I do express my thoughts and feelings offline too, but if I expressed everything on my mind then I would get people saying "can't you just stop talking for 5 minutes?" It's a bit different when writing all your thoughts and feelings down for people to read, as it isn't instant communication like it is when you're talking directly to somebody, so you're at less risk of being told to shut up.

Also I don't talk about ASD much offline because I am very closeted about it, so that is another reason why I come here to chat or vent or whatever.
I don't like it when people assume that just because I have ASD it means I find it extremely hard to express my feelings, but I actually don't have this trait. I ALWAYS express my feelings, in fact I think I overexpress my feelings, and nothing gets bottled up. I fail to understand how people can bottle everything up.
I mean I could have an hour long chat about my deepest feelings to a person who knows I have ASD, then the next day they could be like "oh I know it's hard for you to get your feelings out there..." and I'm like "excuse me but getting my feelings out there is an impulsive thing that I have done so often for so many years that it's hard NOT to!"

That's one of the many things that sucks balls about having AS - when people are blind to the things you are able to do and just assume that you are unable to do it just because of your label.

EXTREMELY good point!!
Unlike many other conditions or diagnoses or whatever Autism/Aspergers is, we do not seem to fit the profile 100%.
Reading other members posts carefully, there seems to be an expectation among non-Aspies that we are all alike and all affected to the same degree by Autism.
This is SO untrue, and SO unfair.
