Usually on nice days I walk around my community, but yesterday I stayed home... And I'm glad I did... There was a man dressed in camo walking around town with an AR15 and two pistols... He was "just exercising his second amendment rights", but he ended up frightening the whole town... If I would have saw this myself I would have probably had a massive meltdown...

Since I had no vehicle, leaving my apartment on foot and playing PoGo or bird watching at the park was relaxing...

Now I don't want to go outside... Now all I have left in my life is my apartment... Watch tv, play videogames... I hate my life...

Did you actually see this person?

I can certainly understand your discomfiture.

Have the cops been called? In no place, even the most gung-ho Second Amendment place, is a person allowed to have guns exposed like that. This isn't the Wild West.

I didn't see him, but I heard the commotion... The cops just explained to the guy he was scaring people and it caused a school lockdown so he cooperated, he was let go.

Yes, that's the story... It happened close enough to me that I heard the police sirens and wondered what was up...

I give up on humanity... People around here are supporting him, saying he has the right to bear arms... I told my pogo chat why I wasn't playing and their mad at me for being against this man's rights...

Angnix: Don't talk to those people.

They don't have the right to know your opinion. Don't bring attention onto yourself.

Why "give up on humanity" because of some idiots?

Please go outside and do what you want to do---as long as you're not bothering anybody else. Don't bring attention onto yourself, above all.

Nevermind, only one person in the group felt that way...

I'm so glad I live in the UK where carrying a gun around is illegal unless you're a policeman.

...and where most cops don’t even carry guns.

By the way, the image of Americans as gun-happy is a mere stereotype. I’ve only seen one handgun in my life.

That sounds pretty bad. Hopefully that won't happen again.

Wow, even I've seen them more than that! 8O

...Then again, I used to work at a police station and have never seen handguns outside of the place. But seriously speaking, I thought seeing guns in America would be more common, especially in big cities... or is it more common in the countryside instead?

Definitely more common in the countryside.

There are usually very strict gun laws in cities.

And most people have rifles, rather than handguns.

Egotistical men strutting around while openly and proudly displaying their  phallic symbols  firearms is another of the many reasons why I left Michigan.

In the UK nobody would support a person with a gun and nobody has rights to run around loose with a gun. If anyone was seen with a gun in public, even if they have a license, they would be arrested.

School shootings are also less common in the UK than in the US.

If you bring any sort of gun into NYC airports, you will be arrested.
