This thread isn't intended to have an especially long life... I just have a lot of stuff on my mind right now, and nobody on MSN to talk to. So, I thought I'd try and start a thread to idly chat about... anything. Whatever you want. Tell me about your obsessions, talk about your holiday, complain about your job, ask me a question... any of it. I just want to take my mind off everything for a while! So please, *anyone* reply!

Hey VC, I've got time on my hands and no particular desire to do any housework, so I'll natter on at ya for a while.

A few weeks back, I went to a big used-book fair, and one of my kids picked out three books for himself. Mostly for the cover art, I suspect - dragons & wizards - though he claims not! We get home and I discover that all three of these books are the third in a series. Great, so now I have to find six other books if we are to have any clue what is going on in the three books he picked!

No problem! Another young friend lends me her copy of The Golem's Eye, so all I need do is get my hands on The Amulet of Samarkand, and that's the Bartimaeus trilogy sorted.

Then I hop on the Net and discover that Terry Brooks has written, not three, but FIVE novels in his The Magic Kingdom of Landover series. Not only that, but Melanie Rawn's sprawling Dragon Prince saga runs to SIX volumes all up.

Let's see... Yellow Pages... "Used Book Shops"...

I don't know if you've tried Amazon or not, but you can pick them up there for about £5 each. Can't say I'm that big on reading books, but I rely on Amazon for nearly all my media needs! They're among the cheapest places for buying cameras, and GREAT for hunting down rare CDs. So... if you haven't already tried them, give them a look! Might be useful in your search.

Thanks for that, I haven't bought anything off Amazon for ages, but I still have an account there. Come to think of it, that's where I obtained the OASIS book, and also Tony Attwood's book about AS.
