I feel like me and my boyfriend are the only 2 people in the whole world who haven't had covid yet.

I don't think I've had it, because if I did then my boyfriend would have had it and we would have known if he had it because he would inevitably be very ill (even when vaccinated, if he hadn't been vaccinated then it'd have been curtains due to his physical health conditions and weight).

I'm just waiting to get it. I hope I don't get too ill and I hope the vaccines work wonders for my boyfriend. He's extremely vulnerable to any virus, not just covid. What chance does a middle-aged overweight man with diabetes, COPD and high blood pressure have against covid? Will the vaccines really do anything? Hopefully he'll be eligible for a forth jab soon. I'm so worried. Yet I feel not human because I haven't had covid yet.

COVID is a very random thing.

It really wouldn't be "hopeless" if your boyfriend happened to get COVID. Many people with health problems survive COVID, and don't get even a serious case. Especially if he's vaxxed and boosted. This particular strain, which is a subvariant of Omicron, seems like it's even less serious than Omicron itself.

With the first Omicron in January, 2022, NYC had 6,000 hospitalizations. Nowadays, even with this "subvariant," NYC hasn't passed 330 hospitalizations.

I just got my second booster today---at about 12 Noon (1700 UK time). I haven't experienced any symptoms.

When am I going to get it? Why haven't I got it yet? Am I magic or something? Maybe I don't exist after all, and that I'm just an element floating around in space dreaming of this life and all its existence.

I'm hoping this new omicron variant is far less deadly like you said. But then why has China shut down? Weird.

I know 4 million people in the UK have got covid (which is the most cases ever reported) but I don't know how many hospitalisations and deaths are among that.

I've had to pull out of a social event I was invited to last Saturday because I thought it would just be asking to get covid. It was a large gathering indoors with lots of people, and no doubt that someone in the crowd would have covid without knowing and be passing it on. The last time I went to a social event (my mother's funeral) half the people came down with covid. Although me and my boyfriend were hugging everyone we somehow managed to escape the virus (we tested negative).

There happen to be people who are immune to COVID.

No one really knows why.

Maybe you and your boyfriend are two of those people?

So far, I've only had it once, two years ago. I survived the big Omicron outbreak in NYC-----where there were 80,000 cases a day for a few days back in January-----and that's in one city!! !!

That's great that you haven't gotten it yet. I'm guessing that given your boyfriend's medical conditions, you are taking a lot of precautions and being more conscientious than the general population and it's working.

I am literally knocking on wood as I type this, but I haven't had Covid yet, either, unless it was an asymptomatic case. But, like you, I also have been more cautious than most people during the pandemic. I am still masking in indoor public settings, even if it's no longer required and I get weird looks.

I hope you guys continue to stay safe and, if you do test positive at some point, it's milder due to your vaccinations.

Nobody in my immediate family (4 people) has gotten COVID yet, we’ve all had tests any time we had any reason to suspect it due to symptoms or exposure and every one has been negative. My brother is on an immunosuppressant and I had chemotherapy in 2020 (during which I had no measurable white blood cells at all for a fair while). We are extra careful for those reasons (all of us have been vaccinated and boosted and have always worn masks in public places throughout the entire thing), but even with weakened immune systems we’ve escaped so far. I feel like the only one who hasn’t even known anyone who got severely ill from it, and I only know two people in person who I know ever had it at all (granted I don’t have that many people who are even acquaintances and most of the people I do know got vaccinated early on).

I don't know anyone who has covid (yet), I guess I'm magic, too.

My sister never had it.
She works in a hospital.
And gets checked for COVID every few weeks.

Both my bosses seem to never had it.
They get checked for COVID on weekly basis due to travel restrictions -- they travel because they have another branch and relatives outside the province.
Yes, and I saw those expenses. Those are expensive month long worth of tests, complete with weekly x-rays and clearances.

Never had once they got positive on COVID.
And one of them even works in a hospital 4 days a week.

No one in my household had it (other family members did).
Unless we had it asymptimatic and never learned about it, of course.

Covid is kind of a weirdo in the sense that it's not uncommon for some people in the same household to get infected while others don't, so even if you did catch it, your boyfriend might not, and other way around. I myself was exposed to covid a bit over week ago; my sister stayed over for the night, and while she seemed fine on Monday evening, on Tuesday morning there was clearly something wrong with her voice. She took home tests that same evening, two out of three coming out positive, and an official test on the next day, which turned out to be positive. So far I haven't had any symptoms though, and since my immune system is a bit poor due to medication, I would probably have symptoms by now if I was infected, so I'm probably in the clear.

Anyway, I'm saying that while it's good to be cautious (hand hygiene, masks etc.), try not to let it rule your life too much.

My mom, my NT sister and I have been fully vaccinated & boosted against COVID-19.

No symptoms, but it wouldn't surprise us if the CDC tells more people to get a second booster.

Good to know, regardless if you have been vaccinated or not.

I haven't gotten COVID yet, nor has my BF. Both of us are vaccinated and boosted.

Both of us also spend most of our time either at home (we work from home as a team programmers) or on errands (accomplished mostly by walking). Here in NYC, or at least in my neighborhood, most people still wear masks in indoor public places.

I don't know anyone who has had it in real life either, just a few people online. My daughter and I possibly had Omicron in January but people weren't allowed to be tested here at that time. We'll never know. They just told anyone who was sick to stay home for several weeks until it passed.

I was sick first, and caught whatever I had at the vaccine clinic when I took my mother for her booster on New Year's Eve. Everyone else I know has been fine.

I know two people who died from Covid but they were distant friends-of-family and both from other countries. One was quite elderly.

I've had two Pfizers. My daughter has now had four.
