I don't know what's happened to this site lately. I've been here 13 years and it's only in the past year I've been in tears because of how I've been spoken to. I made a decision to leave but decided to be self-destructive by rejoining.

Perhaps do what I did, stay away from the forums for a while and if you do want to still chat to people here then do it via PMs.

Such a shame some of our sensitive members are being driven out of a forum that is supposed to be a support network and a safe space for autistic people to be themselves and socialise with each other.

(Not aiming this at anyone in particular, just saying that the OP isn't the only one who feels like this).

Joe has been saying the same thing for a while, it's not an autism-centered site or a support site. It's political.
This has always been an issue with the site, some people recall as far back as 10 years, to the point mods turned against one another. Lots of the old mods were cleared out, things got better, yet the issue persists.

Misoginy, misandry, left, right and center, pick your poison. There's always something to treat each other abhorrently over. Rumors, people's friends being turned against them, slander. People hiding in fear or quitting the site.

Sorry to hear you have had enough of some of the ugliness of this forum.
There will always be some kind of dark or shadow side of any space where there are people and this is unfortunate.
If you come back after a break it could well give your emotional energy a boost.
Hope you do and know that there are plenty of people here who appreciate you.

I understand there has always been members I have clashed with (NOT referring to anyone in particular, just saying overall in my 13 years of being here), but it usually stayed in the threads related to the topic we clashed with, and even then they weren't that hostile and we just moved on.

These days it seems some people carry their hostilities across the forum, chumming up with only members who share exactly the same political views, and know how to get away with it by being really subtle and thinking that just because we're Aspies we won't notice it. But I do. I have that intuition.

Again I'm not referring to anyone in particular.

theres too much obsession with sex here and talk about penises but not just in the adult section

with all this sexual grooming and stuff going on i prefer not be post here as often because i dont want to be vulnerable to anything

i havent officially left but im keeping my distance a little
