A couple of weeks ago I saw my psychiatrist and got my bi-yearly prescriptions. I've been on the same drugs (remeron+wellbutrin) for about 3 years. Unfortunately, I lost the prescription, and wasn't able to get it filled before my vacation. When I got back, there were a bunch of mix-ups that lead to me not getting a new rx until today. Long story short, I've been off my meds for about 2 weeks now.

Having felt fine for so long, I wondered how I'd feel if I stopped taking my meds, and now I know. By day 10, I pretty well reached crazy once again. Agitated, frightened, trembling. I hallucinated that an enormous mosquito was hovering in my bedroom. Started crying for no reason while taking a shower. Haven't eaten much of anything. Feel cold all the time. Can't sleep. Surreality is creeping in.

I'm supposed to pick up my refill tonight. Hopefully it's actually ready this time. I'm coming unwound.

I hope it does not take too long to get yr nervous system more comfortably attuned. I am waiting for my meds to kick-in too.

Peace to you from London my friend

I've gone off my meds cold turkey before both due to unfilled prescriptins and by choice. BAD idea!! ! I take feeling good for granted and think I'll have a go at it on my own. It hasn't worked :?

Hope you get to feeling better soon! Take care.

I know; it would bne so awful if I went off mine! My problem is sort of similar but sort of the opposite. I've been feeling so awful lately-- especially today-- even tho I took my prescribed 20 mg of Celexa this morning I was so terribly depressed that I had a breakdown that included anger in an important job interview and took a second 20 mg tablet as soon as I got home, even though I wasn't told it was safe to do this. Maybe it's the placebo effect, but I'm starting to feel better.

Doesn't sound like the Celexa is doing it for you. How long have you been on it? I was put on Celexa when I first went to my doctor about my depression, but it didn't really do anything. I felt kind of better, but not firmly. It took a few med changes, but when I was finally put on Remeron, it was like a light switch was turned on.

No; the Celexa isn't working that well for me, but like with you, if I went off it it would be awful. A change may be what I need. I'll take 2 tablets again tomorrow and see if I feel better. :D I'll probably have to switch or ask for a very very high dose.

Yay!

Got my refill, and have been back on my meds for several days now. Things are returning to baseline, and lucidity is filtering back.

Yay! And you're all in one piece again hopefully? :D

I've been on the Celexa for 4 or 5 weeks... since July 15, I think-- and it's doing a LOT for me, but it could still do a lot more, I still need it to do a lot more than it's doing! I think you're in the same boat; you didn't realize they worked until you went off them... but you needed them to do even more for you than they were doing. :)

I think that the first time you're depressed is much harder than future times because you don't have a reference. You slowly come to feel awful, and it's hard to identify when you officially became depressed. Once that's over, it's much easier to appreciate the hallmarks of your depression, and identify them when they happen again. If I start listening to a lot of Nick Drake, waking up at 4AM, feeling twitchy and dizzy, or lose my appetite, I can be reasonably sure I'll need help soon, and won't need to wait until I hit rock bottom.
