My brother was told in the 2nd week of May,by our oldest niece, that my father had 3-6 months left.Heart and liver failure. As soon as my brother knew he told me. My sister had known for quite some time how things are. I was angry and very sad. There was a sudden rapid decline on Tuesday. He has hours to a few days left. My sister video called me. I spoke to my father. He couldn't talk , but there were little non-verbal signs that he heard me, and was pleased.

He's 93. He's had a good life. That doesn't make me feel less sad though. Perhaps that's silly.

It doesn't matter how old you are, losing a parent is bound to be difficult.

I'd be weepy too. That's nothing to be ashamed of firemonkey.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. You're allowed to be sad. Even though we all know our parents will go at some time when they become old, it's still very hard when it happens.

Aw I'm sorry man.

My father passed away,10.05 Charlotte time, gently and peacefully in his sleep, as he'd wanted.

Allow yourself to feel however you are feeling.

Knowledge that he lived a long and (I presume) happy life might be comforting sometimes, but you're still experiencing a loss all the same. Every person is different, and even one person's reaction to different losses can be different.

Go easy on yourself and reach out to whatever local support you have available.

Thank you all. I feel numb and a little spaced out, which is a bit odd maybe?? He had a long and happy life. Good career. Many years of happy retirement. Many friends. A loving family and stepfamily.

It's not odd to feel like that. I think it's actually pretty normal from what I've heard.
