I get theese highs where I can read disturbing books or whatever, and I don't find anything disturbing; I can handle anything! Then I get these dark dark moments... I took the quiz someone posted in the autism forum and it says I am probably cyclothymic (?) so I think it's that though; at first I thought it was jsut Major Depressive Disorder... and it's VERY VERY VERY major when I experience it! My highs aren't nearly as good as my lows are bad! So I'm confused as to what I've got! Is there such a thing as "Depression NOS" like someone here said they had or something?

I dunno but back in the day I remember getting all hyped up about watching/looking at violent and gruesome videos/pictures. All real stuff too. Gory as f**k. I used to frequently think about a lot of really bad stuff too, but I can think back and say, wow, I was really a freak! lol, but yeah, it was something I just sorta grew out of, violence just isnt that interesting anymore. If I saw it now I would just be like, eh, ookaaay..
So all that disturbing stuff you like now is "yea ok I guess Ill talk about it" to me=p

Don't know much about that one.
I came up as bi polar and have on several tests, Such is life, lol.
At least you can sit and read a book, ADD or whatever it is precludes me even doing that.
My highs feel like something is going to explode inside...my chest gets all light and I feel high and have a lot of energy even if I am tired, and want to walk fast and keep walking, or watch every film I have and read every book I have and write every book I have in my head...but they only last a day or two at a time, these highs then it is back into depression, rage or indifference.
I am such a stable person...

Hehe, said I would get revenge on you for hijacking my thread that time... :P

Your "high" sounds pretty mild to me, Ana. A manic high is really disabling, it involves not being able to sleep or feeling any need for sleep, irritability and increased impulsiveness and all manner of acting out and may include construction of delusional systems et cetera. When manic a person can become convinced he is about to become rich and spend all his money and go into debt, walk for miles and go home with strangers, do all kinds of crazy dangerous stuff. Then he goes to sleep and wakes up totally exhausted and with an incredible depression and on top of that feels humiliated because of the crazy stuff he has said and done while manic. I've been there. It's tough.

I don't mean to minimize what you go through. It sounds like you feel detached and this is not your usual way so it frightens you. But it doesn't sound like bipolar.
