I seem to strangely feel that if we didn't go around comparing ourselves to others because of social media and so on, then I wouldn't sometimes have these thoughts popping into my head and I would feel better even though this may sound absurd because I know that everyone is different and to be in a world where everyone is the same would just boring.

I just feels hard if you are persuaded not to compare yourself to others when we still see people trying to achieve a degree of status as though its a race to get to the top of something, earn more money than someone else etc so we won't have to look back with any regrets whatsoever. Its as though societies in the West have created this formula for conventional success telling us we ''should'' create a career that will get us recognition, make lots of money, buy a nice house, get married and have kids and that by following that formula will lead us to ''success, self-worth and happiness''.

Again, because maybe live in a culture that can feel like a race that's impossible to win. If you are, say, are someone like me in your thirties and aren’t yet making a six-figure salary and don’t yet have kids, then something in you might feel anxious that you’re “falling behind.” That's how I feel sometimes. You may look at your peers’ careers on Linkedin and their social victories on Facebook, and your anxiety heightens.

At the end of a persons life, whether they look back with regrets or not, they will still pass from this life to the next (or into nothing, as some people believe).

Everything in this world is temporal. I wouldn't worry about being a spec of cosmic dust, or an economic unit, particularly in regards to ones economic worth.

As long as you are a moral, good person on this Earth, you are well placed for death.

No, you’d feel better if you didn’t compare yourself to others.

See a therapist for your anxiety and depression.

I don't compare myself to others.
I never really did, even as a child.
My harshest test is to compare myself to me.

I've long felt that comparing oneself to others sooner or later feels like apples and oranges comparisions.
