I cant get out of depression nowadays.

What would you do at first if you feel so depressed and empty?

it depends on what is causing the depression. For some people its a seasonal thing, for some its situational, for others it might be comorbid with other illnesses or disability. It can also be medication/or drug related. It might also be a combination.

The treatments also vary. Its a complex issue that doesn't come with a universal fix.

I like to get outside and play golf.
I used to go hiking but I think it is safer on the golf course as I'm less likely to get lost.

For me - Usually something that gives me sensory comfort.
That thing is normally from childhood.
Old music (esp. Christmas), coloured lights, old toys, soft blankets, cuddly jammies.
Then I stim my brains out.
Sometimes a hot bath.

Of course it doesn't cure depression, it just feels good in the meantime.

I tend to try a 'glass half full' approach. Think of the positives: you have food and water and a roof over your head unlike those poor people in Ukraine and Gaza.

Not that it has really worked that great for me, but it does give me some temporary relief to find a distraction.

If I watch a streaming program that is sufficiently absorbing I can forget myself a bit and shift my focus on what is happening in the show. I like British detective shows, because they are like solving a puzzle, and the characters and settings are good. I don't want to watch something too emotional.

Busying myself with a craft like crocheting, usually while listening to a podcast like Conan O'Brien or Marc Maron (or whatever interests you) has a similar effect.

Going out on a bike ride sometimes lifts my spirits a tiny bit. Not always, because sometimes I keep on thinking about the things that are upsetting me so it doesn't serve as a distraction.

Talking to someone, even on the phone, if there is someone you can talk to.

It might help to see a therapist and take medications.
