Ugh. I wish I could just not find it so hard. I have to be reminded to shower. Ive been wearing the same clothes a lot. I sometimes even get argumentative when asked to change. It's embarrassing. It's just overwhelming. I keep saying I'm going to get better. I do and then I start skipping. My gums are red. Sometimes I smell bad. I fall asleep in my clothes. Its difficult to find clothes sometimes. I'm not allowed to wear my comfort clothes in public. I have a hoodie I'm allowed to wear that's too small for me but only for appointments and if I'm not feeling well or something. If I wear it too much it starts to smell bad.

I think I do need help staying on top of my hygiene.

Changing one's clothes regularly matters almost as much as bathing regularly.

If you wear the same item of clothing for several days in a row it'll smell, even if you've washed yourself daily (or even more often). If it doesn't smell of body odour it will smell of the perfumes in your cleaning products, deodorant, etc. It can also pick up other smells like cooking odours, smoke, etc.

If you find a specific piece of clothing that you like as a comfort item consider buying multiples, ideally visually distinct multiples so that you can wear them constantly but also wear a fresh one regularly and let other people know it's not the same one as yesterday.

I do this with things like shorts, jerseys, track suits, etc.

I agree with FXE. A regular change of clothing is very important for hygiene, in addition to bathing regularly.

And it depends on lifestyle habits too, if you cook for yourself regularly/use spices often, or if you are in the presence of other people who also might struggle with hygiene, or have other smells that are captured in your clothes, then you could unwittingly be a smelly person, especially if you don't change your clothes regularly, regardless of whether you keep up with bathing.

Do you possibly have fatigue issues . Am thinking many people whom are facing such situations have trouble
keeping up with the issues you have described . Some people get extremely burnt out at the end or towards the end of the day .Mental fatigue can be worse than physical sometimes . Got to keep up with teeth! flossing too. The results of letting that type of care go , can be very expensive...Perhaps Order Xylitol Gum , your choice of flavour from the net . Helps stop cavities , has been documented .. from a utube vid. , tried it it seems to help .my own teeth .
Flushable wipes in a emergency for your private bits . No replacement for bathing . Even clothes like baths :D
.............(Just a Thought offering)............

I think you need therapy. Intentional disregard of personal hygiene could be a sign of mental illness.

I feel like the hallucinations she's repeatedly mentioned over the years are a much bigger indicator than poor hygiene ever could be.

personally think it might be a reaction to medication type issues , ? Or possibly a long term chronic i fection?
Often times a infection in the system, leaks toxins into the blood stream. That after a long term exposure into
the blood stream .can seep across the Blood brain barrier( BBB) and those toxins will mess with visual processing in some people ...imho . Not to mention creating the fatigue issues .
