The incident in the news article happened over 10 years ago but somehow I stumbled across it while googling something else and it freaked me out so much that I broke down at work and couldn't breathe properly, so in the end I had to come home because I was in such distress.

I won't say what it was, because it might even be too distressing for people here, but I can say my feelings on it. Okay, I know the man was mentally ill with schizophrenia and was so delusional that he thought the devil was possessing his neighbours but I still can't feel any sympathy for him, because two animals and one elderly person died brutally because of him. It's too evil to comprehend. I mean if a person was mentally ill and was about to kill two innocent animals and an elderly person with a knife, and you had a gun in your hand, would you shoot him dead? Because I would. Yes call me unsympathetic for him if he's not 100% aware of what he's doing but even so, I couldn't let innocent people and animals get brutally slaughtered, I'm sorry. PEOPLE, IF YOU THINK YOU ARE DEVELOPING PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA THEN PLEASE GET HELP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!

Now I'm feeling overwhelming empathy for those poor animals and that poor little elderly person. You're not safe anywhere now.

What if I suddenly develop paranoid schizophrenia like that? Don't forget I have ASD, and people with ASD are "more likely" to get everything possible to mankind, so that means I might get schizophrenia, as I do suffer from anxiety and depression. Oh, God, if I do ever become murderously paranoid then I'd rather be shot dead than to be responsible for deaths of innocent people and animals. At least then it'd put me out of my misery if I was that certain that the devil was possessing innocent people and animals around me.

I'm so freaked out. Why did I go and read that article for? Now I can't unsee it. I'm trying to listen to music to divert my thoughts from it but it's not working. Oh, those poor animals and that poor elderly person. What would their last thoughts have been before...the awful awful evil thing that man did to them?

I hate this world, there's too much evil going on in it.

I do too. BTW, people who are truly psychotic are not responsible for their actions.

I know but...those poor animals and the elderly person. Getting decapitated...I can't bear the thought of it.

Mentally Ill or not, there's just no excuse for the obvious crimes that man committed and needs to be sentenced to imprisonment, preferably needing intense therapy. If not, death. :skull:

He should have got help before going on this murderous rampage targeting innocent people and animals. Nobody just suddenly gets paranoid schizophrenia overnight. Apparently he was at a friend's house moments before he went on the rampage using a knife from his friend's kitchen drawer. The friend played no part in it and was later shocked and even traumatised by what the guy had done.

Clearly the guy was delusional, as he didn't seem to have the capability to be discreet about it. Then when he had severed the elderly person's head he proudly held it up to the sky and yelled to God "I did it!"

I'm sorry but it just sends chills down my spine. It has really disturbed me. And I struggle to feel sympathy for the mentally ill guy, because my sympathy is much more higher for the poor elderly person and the animals, because they died horrifically.
He just jumped into the elderly person's backyard and murdered them. So you're not even safe in your own backyard when there are these untreated delusional psychos about.

By definition: Psychotic people are generally not responsible for their antisocial actions.

I understand this reality goes against human nature, and that is why an objective viewpoint is essential, rather than a subjective emotional one.

Here in Australia, we had a recent tragedy where a person with schizophrenia ran through a shopping centre killing numerous people with a knife. He was originally located in Queensland where he had psychiatric support but moved to Sydney later on. He did seek medical help, but the system let him down with the result being the deaths of many innocent people. The system is not perfect. Far from it. These sorts of tragedies are inevitable, based on observation.

Well, the good thing about people with severe mental illness like that is that at least they can be reformed with the right help.

But when they have severed heads of innocent people and animals, it's easier to feel upset for them rather than the mentally ill person. It's just scary that some people with paranoid schizophrenia resort to killing others violently. What if it happens to me? What if I go out one day and get randomly targeted by someone who thinks I'm the devil and they decapitate me? What an awful, awful way to die.

I know they're not entirely responsible, but it's still frightening. I mean, if a wild animal got loose and was roaming around, it would most likely be shot right away (unfortunately tranquillisers don't always seem to be the first choice), even though it's an animal that isn't evil or anything but is still dangerous. So it's the same with a paranoid schizophrenic who is on a rampage, they're just as dangerous as an animal, and innocent lives could be at risk.
