Worried about disappointing parents for no kids
I remember watching something where people were discussing having children either because they wanted them or ought to have them and one guy said that "they just have to follow the Joneses because it's the thing to do, getting married, having kids, because it's what your parents are expecting of you because they want to become grandparents."
I think my mum and dad enjoy being grandparents to my five year old nephew and my nans enjoy being great-grandparents. I seem to worry sometimes about being a disappointment because I don't have kids to become grandkids for my parents.
I've spoken to my mum who understands the thoughts and worries and thinks it wouldn't be a good idea for me bringing someone into the world right now when I don't feel mentally really wanting them despite not being with anyone. I haven't spoken to my dad about it really and nor has he said to me he is expecting grandkids from me despite a year ago telling me to "knuckle down" in terms of finding someone which just aggravated the anxiety.
I don't understand why someone's worth depends on becoming a parent especially in this day in age when we are in a different world compared to 60 years ago.
