Things keep popping up on Facebook about flu being the next pandemic. Why is it that ever since covid society has been unable to live with any normal viruses without having to sensationalise it into something as bad as the plague?

I'm not worried about getting the flu. People have their flu jabs, just like they do every year, and the flu exists, just like it does every year. Why suddenly the new covid now? Because I don't think anybody is going to tolerate another 2020 with a virus that has existed for centuries. I can't go back to all that again.

No need to scare us with the threat of masks and lockdowns. I'm just scared because it was just like this at the end of 2019 with covid - a few cases were mentioned, many people thought it was just another passing thing that'll come to nothing, then suddenly after Christmas everybody's lives changed in ways we'd never imagined beyond our wildest dreams. I don't want a repeat of that this time: "get Christmas out the way then we'll start locking the country down and destroying the already suffering economy". Viruses have been going around for centuries, we ought to be lucky we have hospitals and medicine and more knowledge about these things than they did back in the 1800s, but they didn't declare lockdowns every time a few people died from a fever.

I guess people saw how destructive a virus can be and now they're afraid of all viruses. This may be anecdotal, but I've never gotten the flu shot and I think the only time I ever got the actual flu was maybe one time when I was 13 (still not sure what that was). I can understand getting the jab if you're old and have a weak immune system, but aside from that I don't see the point.

The pandemic response and government overreach caused genuine OCD-like mental illnesses in otherwise normal people and no one has anything to say about it. They were just left to it and there are still people now who test every sniffle and rarely leave the house. It's a real crisis and the powers that be know how obedient people are now so I don't fully trust them to not pull the same stunt again.

Today I read about Canada geese dying because of the avian flu. The way I hear people talk about Canada geese being "cobra chickens", I'll bet a lot of them don't think it's such a bad thing. But it is.

Last night I dreamed I had a runny, stuffy nose as if I had a cold. I've been dreaming a lot about having some kind of illness. I'm thinking there's such thing as a common cold anymore that only lasts a few days and then you recover without any unusual problems anymore. It's either covid or an awful strain of flu. Last year I got my flu shot. Took the usual precautions whenever I went out. Got really sick anyway and was coughing my lungs out for over two weeks.

The whole world is terrible, the problems aren't solvable, life is unlivable.

That might have been symptoms of the vaccine, not the flu itself, since the vaccine is literally a weakened version of the flu virus that's supposed to elicit an immune response in order to train your immune system. Basically all the noticeable symptoms like coughing, fever, runny nose, etc. are caused by your immune system rather than the virus itself.

I had a cold back in May I think it was. Didn't make me ill or anything.

I've only had flu once in my whole life, and that was in March 2019. I could barely walk, and that is not like me, as I've always been able to walk whenever I've had a flu-type virus.

I remember when I was 12 during the winter a huge outbreak of flu was going around the school and beyond. I remember there was only about 10 kids that turned up in my class because so many were off with this flu. And they weren't faking it, because when they returned they all had chesty coughs.
I did catch it but I wasn't that ill, just had a couple of days off school and that was it.
No masks were worn. You just got on with it.

Now they're saying people have to wear masks on public transport. Is this the start of another 2020 coming? Because I can't cope with all the rules and conspiracy theories.

Oh ffs they better not pull this s**t again. Hopefully people are already fatigued enough by the covid rules that it won't catch on for long. I hated the mask thing because I can't stand things being over my face, it's suffocating and it makes me feel sick eventually because of the hot air and trapped sensation. I don't even like scarves on my face. I wore them for a few weeks at the time but couldn't handle it anymore. Which also means divulging my personal business to people so they leave me alone about it which is not something I want to do.

I got used to wearing a mask but that isn't the point. It's about principle. I don't want to go back to all that again. Flu goes around every year, why are we suddenly being asked to hide from it? It's like the government want some form of control, because literally ever since covid there's been nothing but fuss over other viruses.
Is this just in England or all over the world? If just England, why? It's not like we don't have vaccines for flu. I don't want to be controlled. I really can't go through all that again. I really hope we're not heading for a difficult year where the country goes into lockdown. I've never known this to happen because of something as well-known as flu before.

I've had a few flu attacks where I didn't know what end to put on the toilet this year. I wonder how many people around the world have experienced the same thing.

Well if flu means vomiting and diarrhoea then I will shoot myself because I'd rather just die than be sick.

Covids of various numbers and derivations are all Flu virus\bacteria variants . If you are worried , just take best care of your immune system you can 100% of the time it will be your own immune system that does all the heavey lifting incase of a systemic infection . Care and Feeding of the Human organism manual : States abusing your body . Directly results in abusing your immune system . You only get one immune system and it will run down as you age or through
abuse of the body . Your Health is Thee most valuable thing you have "literally" . ( Not taught in Medical school or any other school.)

I know, I don't think I could cope again with that. I'm a bit worried myself this year even though I do get the vaccine. Still very concerned to say the very least.

I 100% agree with you, being controlled is all kinds of hell. I really had a hard time with that I think I was angry 24/7. And tbh any kind of flu or cold that you need a test to differentiate from other flus and colds is not one worth freaking out about. I still know people who test when they feel sniffly and stress about it being covid, does it matter?? They'll still have the same runny nose after the test as the one they had 5 minutes prior. Just take a lemsip ffs.

Look up the 1918 flu pandemic. 50-100 million people dead. That's nothing to sneeze at.

And now idiot science-denying politics is making it worse.

Got measles???
