Dad cussed me out in public for wanting to get a drink

Hi yall,
I am frustrated that my dad cussed me out in public with very fowl language because I wanted to get a margarita at a restaurant. I am 34....I think I should be allowed to drink when and where I want. He would of left me stranded if i would of gotten the alcohol. He wont let me drink in public while I live with them or else he will kick me out and make me homeless for the 21st time. They would not let me drink because they did not want to make a brother in Christ stumble. I just think I should have the freedom of a 34 year old man.

He would not even let me buy the booze with my own money. I dont know why the church of Christ has to be so against all drinking when Jesus drank and the early Christians drank at church together. I am not even talking about wanting to get drunk....all i wanted was one margarita.....I wish I did not have to live with my parents. Its a living heck every day. My dad has been yelling at me and cussing me out all my life and I am tired of it. He does not want me to drink in public because it could ruin his chances of getting appointed as a bishop and presbyter at church. Why does keeping up appearances with the church folk have to take away my freedom to drink. My dad wants me to basically ask the elders for permission to drink alcohol....I think thats bad.

First of all, I am sorry that you have to be exposed to that level of psychological and emotional abuse. You don't deserve that. As a believer, no true desciple of Jesus would think about themselves like that and nor would they abuse you by using profanity.

In fact, your dad reminds me of a former toxic friend who I used to associate with. Bascially, he thought that he was entitled like that as well. All the while managing to abuse his wife, step daughter, and I. . He would also sit there and "Preach at me" about how this or that was a sin right? Yet, it was okay for him to constantly lie and deceive others.

Anyway, do you have any friends other relatives who you could go stay with?

It seems that he cares more about himself than he does about anyone else.
