Dissuading myself from something because "it's too late"
There is a part of me would like to do or try something new or is eager to do things I didn't do much in my 20s but I keep being bombarded by self imposed thoughts of thinking I'm "too old" for it or that it's "too late" to do it now. That then ends up making me feel really low and therefore it dissuades me from doing something.
A couple or more years back I went to Chessington and went on some of the big rides for the first time because as a kid I wouldn't go on any big rides. I feel pleased with myself that I did it and would I do it again.
I also don't know why I feel like it's "too late" to socialise because I've seen posters for club events for the over 30s but I still don't feel that interested in clubs even in my 20s.
I do sometimes get these thoughts where I berate myself for not being in a long term relationship in my 20s because if I did, I wouldn't be worrying about not having one in my 30s. I also feel dissuaded from dating apps because it just seems like endless scrolling with few views or messages or responses and feel like giving up because they won't want someone like me.
Eh it's never too late to try new things, unless of course that new thing is having children, that has an age limit. But nothing else does. Some opportunities arise late, but better late than never.
It's easy to be discouraged though and to find reasons to not bother.
Romantically I'm quite avoidant, and I'm avoidant of taking risks in general. And I will regularly talk myself into thinking maybe I don't really deserve marriage and children etc and the universe is telling me I wasn't meant for it. I don't know what I am meant for though, the universe hasn't hinted at any half decent replacement. But it's my job to find out, and if that comes later then so be it!

Sometimes you need to tell that part of your mind to piss off.
If I had of listened to that part of my mind I wouldn't have signed up for hockey. Accomplishing things (even if it's later than others) is the reward for not listening to that part of your mind.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
