Ok...so I am on a two day first aid course and today was day one.

My youth worker said that there would be 6-8 people there...and there was 22. So that was not good.
Anyway...one of the activities was two get into groups of three where we would have 20 minutes to research a designated medical condition and explain it to the rest of the class in a presentation. Our group got Febrile Seizures to study.

We all decided to do a roleplay for the presentation. This included showing people what to do when someone is having a febrile seizure and what not to do. Also give information on what causes them etc.
They other members of my group said that I should be the one to act out the seizure since I am the smallest and easiest to put into recovery position...I agreed to do so.
During the presentation...one of the group members had to remove my jacket whilst "I was seizing"...to show how to cool down the person.
He removed my arm band aswell and exposed to the whole class my scars from when I self-harmed!
To stay in character I tried not to think about it, it was hard though.

After the act, people were coming up to me and saying..."Good Seizure impression". I couldn't help but think that they were judging me because of my scars!
I have to return tomorrow and I am not looking foward to it because of this. Now the whole class knows about my previous self harming and so does the instructor. I am not glad about this. :(

If they find you cool, it's totally alright. A lot of them have been there too. If they don't, you're still learning first aid... which is what you're there for! :) Furthermore, it would be against the rules for people to leave you out or pick on you or otherwise interfere with your education! If that ever happens, just tell them "Let's just do this, get it over with" and if they don't, then tell the instructor what's going on and ask if you can join another group or switch with someone, or something. :) Good luck!
