Do you sometimes try and act like someone you are not ?
To paraphrase Nietzsche i think he said something like you are who you pretend to be. Or act as if ..
Ive invented and assimilated many different facets of personality.
But ultimately, like peeling many different layers of an onion, at the core, what is there ?
There is nothing. Is this something to feel regret about ?
I dont know, sometimes i despair.

There have been plenty of times through out my life where I lived in a fantasy land where I was "someone else". Helped me cope with my problems. Cause I was someone else :P

I act jolly, and clown around. But really I'm serious and quiet. The Missus always tells me that I was trying to entertain....

There obviously is something at the core, or else who would be asking questions? :)

The persona is a mask for the ego, it's not the ego itself.

No, but I do react in extremely different ways depending on the situation, in one I might be serious, morose, and "informative" there is a fairly large group of people who have known me as being that and that only, but there are also situations or people that I will react in an extremely aggressive, caustic, violent, sarcastic, and manipulative way, which can be a surprise for people who have only ever seen me react one way. For example the first kind of reaction was often seen at school and people would be surprised if I even cracked a smile, then I'd get home and talk to my who I'd would almost never be serious with. And then there's my encounters with people who I consider ignorant, misinformed, obnoxious or whatever, which is usually on Internet Forums and in those places I develop a reputation for attacking people. No none of that is faked, they're simply reactions to attitudes or behaviors.

Don't we all make up personas? Isn't that something we excel at?

I've had many tones of voices I used... I would always turn into whatever person would be best at solving whatever problem I had at the moment. :)
