Fear of doctors!! !!

I think I need to go to see a doctor about a GI problem I've been having the last few months. It isn't anything urgent or major or necessarily even a problem I don't think, but I still think I should go, the only thing is I have a problem in that I'm absolutely terrified of doctors.

I hate them.

I hate the way the only time you go is when there's something wrong and you don't know what it is.

I hate the way they uhm and ahh and never tell you what they're thinking or explain things very well.

I hate the way you just don't know what's wrong.

I hate the way they prod you and poke you and look and ponder.

Ugh.

I hate everything about them; I cannot stand going to see them.



Any suggestions?

I knooooow but I can't. Seriously, just the thought makes me feel sick.

I just wish I could find a nice lady doctor who I could trust and who would listen to me. I often think it'd be much easier if I did have an official dx, even though I don't want one (I don't think there's any benefit for where I am right now, but there'd be a few downers to it), because then maybe they'd be a bit more understanding. But.

Blah, I don't know. It's a crap situation really.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just open the Yellow Pages, find the one closest to you, and *bingo!* sorted. It looks as though some investigative work will be needed here. Have you heard any good "word of mouth" for any doctor in your area, male or female? Are there any doctors' surgeries near you which cater for women's health? It's a pain to have to visit one GP after another to find one you get along with, but once you do find one, treasure her (or him) always.

I know, it's just silly. I love my doctor back home, she's lovely and knows me really well so I trust her. Plus she's quite into alternative remedies too, like she'd rather recommend me take something homeopathic than go straight to the pharmaceuticals (given how much I hate Big Pharma that suits me very well indeed).

But here I'm at this crappy clinic where you can't make appointments, it's just turn up and see whoever is there. There is a good clinic in town but they won't take me on as I'm already registered somewhere else nearby and they're quite assy about things.

Grrrrrrrrrr.

Plus there's getting time off work to go and see them too...! !
