My mom just called and told me she's moving out of the house I grew up in and moving to another state. It's a great opportunity for her to start a new business and live near another relative, so I'm excited for her. And since I am away at college now, it doesn’t affect me in any immediate way...

But this means that when I go home for Christmas in a couple weeks, it will be one of the last times (maybe THE last time) I ever visit home. And she's moving to another STATE, meaning next year I won't go home for Christmas, I'll go to some state I don't even know, or go on "vacation" to California (my home state)...

It's just so much to take in, I'm freaking out and feeling really down. I'm really going to miss my home!! !

ah, that is so hard to deal with! My mother always talks about selling this house and moving, i would absolutely loose it. Why don't you take pictures of your house, like your room, your favorite hiding places, the little marks you left on your house while you were growing up, and make a photo album. After the move happens, you can always have that photo album to look at to feel like your still at home. It won't be the same as living there, but it might help the change a lot easier!

Yeah, that's a good idea, thanks! I'll have to do that. Also I take a lot of walks around my neighborhood, so I'll just have to take my camera around with me sometime to remember it all...

I moved from NJ to NY in 1991 when I was 8. Currently I live only 20 mins away from my parents house, the house I grew up in. Recently I went back to NJ, first time in 16 years, and brought a camera, I took pictures of the whole neghboorhood, and even got access to the old house, it was one of the happiest moments of my life, and wish I woulda done it before I moved way back then when I was 8.

Now my parents in the coming years are going to move again, this time near other family or possible even down south where its warm, my dad wants to retire. the day that happens I will be devistated for a long time, I will take plenty of pictures of the house, and will always visit my old neghboorhood every chance I get.

Definatly somethin to think about, I see others would do the same too.
