...a genius. Well, probably an overestimation. Rather use the word smart.

Not an exactly easy subject to bring up. It sounds so megalomaniac that I would rather stick to a usual 'I'm not feeling so well' one. I do not think I am very wise, just intellectually gifted.

I recognize limits I have (which are lots), but when looking at the things I know I'm capable of and am interested in, I see myself exceeding (nearly?) all the people around me. I only see possibilities I'm well aware I can reach (though yet my eternal procrastination always holds me back), supported by evidence from practice I've been collecting out of interest. It gives confidence yet also makes me wonder if it's completely healthy. Maybe I'm considering myself smarter than I actually am. Maybe not.

Makes anxious.

Well, you're certainly not alone in that thought. Maybe I wouldn't go as far as calling myself a genius but I can often recognize the fact that I'm smarter than most of those around me. I see those that struggle to do what I can accomplish without effort and those who reach a higher ground simply worked for it. I've never been very motivated to perform well in school but I am well aware that I could have been the best student in the school had I wanted to. But I never had any interest for it. And as soon as I do take interest for something related to school I leave the rest in the dust.

And this is the thing, I don't consider myself to be better than everybody else in the world, but I can recognize that I may be more gifted than others. In the same way, I lack some things that said people do possess.

Whether it's healthy or not, in my mind, comes down to if you perceive yourself to be smarter than others or if you perceive others to be dumber than you. It's a fine line. Don't cross it.

I guess I can gladly say that I haven't really fallen for this. Sometimes I do see it this way when for example explaining something and get frustrated with nobody understanding. However, I prefer to see the potential in everyone and sneering down on someone is what seems dumb to me. It's actually quite fascinating looking for people's strengths.

Genius leaves me in the dust topic

I hope there are plenty of gifted individuals like Keoren and Ouelis who are able to contribute in this world. It must be amazing to be able to think so quickly.

Not me. I am a plodder and just do the best I can, in my average way, making mistakes and learning from them, I hope. 8)

I hope others can post in this forum. There are a lot of amazing beings writing on this website.

I really can't tell whether or not this is sarcasm. If it is, this is exactly the reason why it took me several tries to make myself write the thing down without ending up deleting it.

Well... technically speaking I am a genius as my IQ 179. I do NOT however think myself smarter or better than others. I recognise that while there are things that I can do in my sleep, that others would need hours to even understand, there are also things that I have very little knowledge and/or talent for. I believe that the best and indeed only thing one can do in life is help others. I am deeply thankful for the fact that I have potential to help others.

(But don't expect me to let it pass if you act like idiots :wink: )

Strange how that worked out isn't it?

She is not being sarcastic. She is just a good woman.

I'd recommend not devoting any time to contemplation of being a genius, but I don't know if you can avoid it. Maybe it is just a stage that people with high IQs go through. I'm much happier and nicer now that I'm out of it though.

In that case I apologize, especially in case I made myself seem rude. :)

Such a ridiculously nice thing to say. I bow in honor for such a compliment. Thank you kindly. :D
In my younger days, I was caught on the other side of the line I mentioned. I was so angry at the world and those around me and that just fueled my arrogance. I looked down on pretty much everyone around me. My, such dark times those were. But thankfully, I found harmony in both myself and the world and I always try to see the good in everybody, as we all have strengths and weaknesses. There's a phrase that I follow in such cases that struck me one day;

"Det är enkelt att hata, men det är svårt att förstå."

Which basically translates to;

"It's easy to hate, but it's hard to understand."

I will quote this in full because it is beautiful. You have discovered things at 19 that many old men die without knowing.
