I took these pictures out the plane window, sitting alone on a 5 hour flight.

It’s just weird. I look down on all the cities, towns, suburban sprawls, farms, etc. and it makes me depressed. I don’t even know how to articulate this right. I’m overloaded by the shear enormity of it. The sprawling haphazard nauseating monotony of modern civilization. It almost reminds me of a disease, like mold growing on a piece of bread. It fills me with an all encompassing feeling of bleh.

I’m not sure why I’m posting this. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same way some time or another.

Personally, I'm offended by the comparison of modern society to mold.

------

Because at least mold was used to make penicillin. :D

Marshall, your photographs are beautiful.

The feeling you describe? With me, it's walking past a huge dreary concrete building, or a multistorey carpark, or some other massive structure, and thinking "How much does that weigh? How much does an entire city weigh?"

Yes I do confuse seem to always take photos out of the plane window, helps pass the time and good to see from a different prospective from time to time.

Yes. Somehow flying gives me the ultimate feeling of that cruel sterile dreariness. The sight of the massive concrete airport terminals and runways. The hordes of people. The nauseating hiss of the jet engines. The stuffy air and electric humming sounds inside the plane cabin. The endless monotony of the terrain out the window. All of it.

Yes.

It's like an inexorably spreading fungus with no cure.

Are you playing Sim City or?

Wonderful pictures. Especially through a plane window.
