Okay, so yesterday my dad got really sick. This isn't the first time, by far - he has Type 1 diabetes and a lot of the complications that go with it. He had a quad bypass a few years ago and it currently on peritoneal kidney dialysis. Well, last night he got really sick all of a sudden - abdominal pain, vomiting, etc.

Today we found out about an FDA recall on Heparin, one of the drugs he takes - and he just happened to have been using one of the racalled types. So, that's what made him sick and why he's in the hospital with his second case of peritonitis right now. -_-

Shouldn't they know to make sure these things are sterile before sending them out for use?

I am so sorry for you. I guess the first priority, no matter what, is just your father's precarious health. Then, later, you can deal with the other issues. What a mess! I hope your father feels better soon.

I have had that happen with at least six medications I was put on, only to hear that there had been a recall. Being to ill to initiate lawsuits myself, I was still glad to hear that others had sued. Big Pharma is only looking to make a buck, and drugs are often made available before the necessary testing and clinical trials meet current regulations for safety.
