....
I'd love to get into music more but my high school band is terrible. Like, we shouldn't be allowed to perform, terrible. Somehow knowing that even if I practiced this music and mastered it, no one else would even learn it, makes it hard to be motivated.
If I could always be in a band like the Quabbin Symphonic Band (a special band made up of students from around the county), it would be so amazing. But that's only once a year.

I'm staring at sheet music now, and perhaps I should grab my metronome and learn it. Why? Because I feel like a failure if I don't. I feel no positive motivation to learn this, just that if I don't, I'm a failure.

Why couldn't I have been in a good music program?

Hey man,

I've wanted to get into a band myself... but I never did high school music and I regret it like you wouldn't believe.

I've tried to get into a band but I just feel that I lack experience.

Of course, now that I have moved out, I can have jamming sessions here if I wanted to... that's only just occurred to me...

Why not just focus on being a soloist? Most of my major musical influences (guitar player for 9 years) are not really known for being in a band. Sometimes bands (as in your case) just hold you back.
