I doubt there is anything out there that would cover them totally, tried that myself.
Only option is to find a waterproof scar concealer from a pharmacy or makeup dept or to end up having to tell them the truth.

I'd have to say that you should just not cover them up and be prepared to explain them.

If you feel you understand why you cut and why you are not doing so anymore, you should be able to tell your parents in your own words... I hope.

If you really are 11 years old, I'm really bummed that you have been cutting, but if you can really stop and redirect those emotions in a less harmful manner, then maybe your scars will not show up so much later in life.

I don't know your family dynamics, of course, so I do not know how your parents would take the news.

Do they know you have cut before? Is this behavior something other members of the family have exhibited before?
Basically I'm wondering what your parents may know about this behavior.

I'm guessing that they might want to take you to some sort of counseling?
This may not be so bad if you are free to participate and not directed in what to do or say.

I tend to believe it is better to get these sorts of things out and in the open instead of trying to hide them.
The longer you hide them, the worse your parent's reactions may be.

But then, like I said above, I don't know your family and how this would all play out.

Wearing long sleeve t-shirts could be the only option plus it would help protect you from sunburn.

I wish you well!

Mederma, something to reduce scarring. Dermablend, a makeup that covers skin marks, is an expensive try. Special effects skin and some spirit gum, no joke, but it might be too far from Halloween to find any of that. I just tell my folks before they ask, and tell them that it's not a problem for me anymore. So far they have not commented on it.

i have scars from a serious eczema itching problem (stim) that i have.... i had a patch that i'd pick at for 2 yrs.......

get vitamin E liquid and apply it to the scars....... it helps reduce their appearance. there are also other creams that they make (mainly for prego women to reduce stretch marks) that make scars go away

though those take a little bit of time

My parents would take this badly. They dont know ive ever cut and would be upset. I dont think i can tell them. I also have never worn a long sleeve tshirt and they would guess somthing was up.

If you don't mind...

Where are the scars, how many are there, and how visible do you really think they are to other people if they are not looking directly at your arms?
I imagine that they are quite visible to you because you are so aware and possibly self-conscious about them... but could it be that no one else will notice unless you are seated directly across from each other and they have the opportunity to stare at your arms?

btw, I am glad to hear you don't cut anymore. Did you stop on your own? I don't know if you have mentioned this in the adolescent forum, but it might be valuable for some of the other young members to learn about.

I do hope you make it through all this okay.
I know that I have been surprised by my own parents' attitude towards some things I have done in my life both as a very young person all the way up to today.

In the end, if the scars are as noticeable as it seems you are saying, I'm sure your parents will find out.
The best way for them to find out is by you being in control of that information.
You pick the moment to tell them, and the information to hand over to them (as to the when, why, etc.).
If you leave this to chance.... you are no longer in control of the situation and you are left to 'catch up' to their feelings.

I strongly suggest you start thinking about how, when, and where you will tell them. Be in control and you should fare better.

I'm sorry to say this, but your parents are going to find out whether you tell them or not. Even if you try and hide them...they WILL notice and probably question you about it.
I am a former cutter, and can say that no matter what I did to hide it, it didn't work. Parents [well, most of them] are very in-tune with their kids behavior, likes/dislikes etc and do know when something is wrong or when you are trying to hide something.

The best thing would honestly be to tell them the truth. I know that it is hard...but you will get a better reaction from them if you tell them, than if they find out by accident. I can gaurantee that all they will want to do is find out why you did it and try to help you if they are nice.

I don't see the big deal in telling parents that you cut. I just pull my knife out in front of my dad and do it. ;/
