I am considering leaving WP because I feel that I have not made much of a difference on here. I have made maybe one or two friends on here, but that's it.

I have tried to be a good role model by being as mature and goal- and career-oriented as possible, but that has not reaped any benefits.

So, I feel there's no place on here for me anymore.

I can be reached at my e-mail address, [email protected], on Yahoo or AIM at timhomer2002, and on MSN at timhomer2008.

Don't be daft!

It just wouldn't be WP without your welcoming new members.

How much difference do you expect to make?
End of the day we are all just wasting our time goofing off work/school or whatever just sometimes, and even if it is only sometimes we can make each other when we are down feel better.
If only once in a blue moon we can make one of us feel better about themselfs.

Then it is all worthwhile.
and with your help we all do far more than that!

Tim, I cant tell you to stay or leave, but everyone on here makes a difference for me. Everyone who posts or answers questions makes a difference. You've posted over 10,000 posts, and I am sure out of those 10,000 posts...you have helped alot more people than you are aware of. :)

It is your decision to stay or leave, but I am sure many will miss you.

You will be conspicuous by your absence topic

I do not know you intimately, Tim_Tex, but from what I have read you are a very insightful young man. Very sensitive. For me, almost like a son.

Are you depressed about school, work or relationships? I know it is not always easy to be Aspie and succeed in these areas.

I do not think we have ever had a written dialogue but consider this the first one. It would seem you might be leaving something else as well. This is scary. I am sorry I did not join your appreciation thread. I am not always forthcoming with feelings. But, rest assured, I do appreciate you, as do countless others at WP.

Thank you.

DON"T GO!

You don't know what difference you make. It can't be measured. Perhaps you have welcomed one member who would not have stayed except for you.

Take a week's break and then reconsider!

Hey Tim you definatly have a place on this website man. It seems like myself plenty others like ya. I definatly feel limiting your time on here can help alot. I dont see why you should leave forever, take time off, maby reduce the time you are on here but no matter what you should always come back from time to time, come check up on how things are going anf update us about your life.

This is a place to meet and make friends. I am not on as much as you are, and I have met many decent people on here and only talk to very few as far as PM or whatever. Everyone makes their own little difference and if you really feel you must leave cause you did not acomplish what you intended then so be it but I dont understand really how much of a difference you expected to make, many people come on here on and off, you obviously have had quite the impact on here in my eyes, what else did you wanna acomplish really and is that worth giving up what you enjoy??

I dont understand what benifits you expected to reap by comming on here and being yourself, this place should both benifit you and everyone else, and you have an oppertunity to do these things while on here. EVeryone has their own very different lives on here, different backrounds, your words are encouraging and I hope others have helped you just as much as you have helped them. It is nice you are doing this, but definatly be sure you come on here for you also, you dont have to 'be professional' on here to acomplish something, be how you wanna be!

I am not on as much as I used to be but I know you definatly fill a niche and if you leave I dont think anybody else will replace ya.

Let us know what you decide, but please dont ban yourself forever. I will never understand why people say they are going to do that all the time on here. it is one thing if you dont like this place but its obvious that you do. Dont punish yourself because in your eyes you did not acomplish what you wanted on here, but instead ask others how they think about ya because perceptions of ourselfs can be far worse then anyone elses Tim.

When I came on to this website, you were the first person to post on my first message and it made me really happy! If you stay on you will make more newcomers happy.

Tim, I can often feel the same way about life. I have found it useful to discern what my motives and what investment I seek in my commitments with others.

I know my self from bitter experience that an expectation can often lead to a pre-meditated resentment. How about taking all these complements above into your heart and try experimenting giving less to others and allowing yourself more from WP.

What ya say?

Tim_Tex: We all don't make much of a difference... individually. It's the recipe that makes the greater whole that counts.

OH! 8O

Well, you make a difference to me.

I recognize you and have posted in some of the same places that you have. It is nice for me to see a familiar face even though I don't know you personally.

Where would you go?

We all have times like this when we get fed up with forums, sometimes it just means you need a little rest and then come back happy and refreshed :D

No difference? Nobody ends up with the respect you've earned without making SOME difference. Frankly, you sound tired.

You won't see every difference you make because you're not with the people you help 24/7. With all of the problems you're having right now, it's hard to feel positive about anything. It would be a good time to look at your expectations and figure out if some of them are too high or if you need a new strategy to get to them. Maybe you're expecting too much from yourself.

One thing to remember is that you will never be the same person you were 10 years before. You learn new skills and forget some old ones, pick up new ideas and forget some old ones, lose interest in some things, gain interest in some others, add or change opinions - and the body chemistry changes as the hormones ease up.

Ask yourself what you want to do and then ask how you intend to get there. You will have failures along the way to go with the successes. That's a suckie part of life, but don't waste a good failure - learn all you can from it.

Perhaps because being mature and goal- and career-oriented is overrated? Grab a beer, let your hair down, and you may feel more comfortable here.

Here's a suggestion: Leave permanently as Tim_Tex, but come back under another alias with a different online personality. 8)
