How long has it been since you stopped taking the other stuff? You probably need to give it some time, as your brain has to adjust for those chemicals it has come to depend on no longer being there.

I agree with LoveableNerd - you will probably feel better in time.

Even if you did have some brain damage (which is probably unlikely), it would not necessarily be permanent. Contrary to popular belief, the adult brain does have the ability to repair itself and grow stronger (within certain limits, of course).

You might want to make a concerted effort to exercise your brain on a daily basis. This is beneficial for anyone, no matter what. And there are many different kinds of activities that function as brain exercises, from writing to doing math problems to playing music to doing puzzles. Basically, anything that makes you actively think is a brain exercise, the more challenging, the better.

Yes, I can second it´s true that the nervous tissue can regenerate, although not very much, but this ability is possible thanks to the stem cells we have in nervous system and they can differentiate into various types of cells-including neurons.
Also it depends how long have been on that drugs and if there have been any contraindications with some any type of drugs...

That's awful! I recently found out that a component of a drug I take for a non-psych medical problem is an MAOI and can cause awful effects when combined with SSRI anti-depressants, among other things. No wonder I had scary adverse reactions to antidepressants after I started taking it!

Doctors are supposed to look up the drugs you tell them you're taking and only prescribe things that are not contraindicated, but it seems many do not do this. I wonder why . . . .

That's got to be scary, Nightbender. I understand how you feel, but I think you need to be careful about stating who you want to kill in a public forum. I understand you're venting, but someone else might send police over.

This is coming off the exercise suggestion: I know this suggestion sounds silly, but I really am serious. Have you ever tried crossword puzzles? They are really good for sharpening the mind when it isn't preforming in the way it usually should. How about word searches?
