We often talk about what NTs like and don't like in people. What character traits do YOU appreciate the most in a person?

Sounds good on paper, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that likes me, so you may want to lower your standards a little. Personally, I like female world class yodelers who are immune to criticism, like to dress in spandex and can bench press 240lbs.

Ok, seriously though, I'll probably be in the monirity here, but I struggle to answer that question. I really don't know what traits I appreciate. I guess a reasonable amount of honesty is a must, but aside from that I'm not really sure. :chin: I think the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts, so I'm not sure that individual traits are neccessarily as important as they seem.

Kind, understanding, patient, but still knows how to speak their mind and doesn't take offence easy. And last but not least: is not afraid of an arguement. (Friendly, constructive arguement that is...)

An open mind. Playful and curious.

I like all sorts of traits and am pretty accepting as long as the person seems nice. I like quirks and unusual personality traits in people the best, everyone has them and I think they are the most entertaining thing about people.

-Agreeable. I really dislike it when people argue with me about petty things that don't matter.
-Kind to animals. This is a MUST for anyone who I'm around.
-Adventurous. I like those who are willing to do things that they wouldn't normally do.
-Optimistic. It really gets to me when people complain about minor things.
-Intellegent. Not just book smart, but I dislike it when people don't know the obvious and I have to explain it.
-Accepting. I dislike it when people try to change me.
-Funny. It's plain and simple. Boredom is, well...boring.

I love openmindedness, not expecting anything from anyone, acceptance, people who are intelligent and talented and skilled and proud of it, but not putting others down for not being that way. People who admit they don't know stuff. There's more, but that's what I can think of now.

M.

Good list.
I especially enjoy people with traits that don't "fit" with broad assumptions as to the person's role, as in men who do housework & like cats (such as my wonderful boyfriend).
He's artistic & so am I, but he does 3-D works & I do 2-D works. I appreciate & marvel at his skill with origami, for instance (I can't do 3-D stuff, my mind just doesn't work that way) and he enjoys the flat things I create. We each have aptitudes that other lacks, but we don't resent or think less of each other for it.

I can appreciate different qualities in different people. What I like about you and your posts Greentea is that we are from the same generation and we have had to go through many of the same experiences of being puzzled and feeling hurt emotionally because we knew that we didn't fit in, but had no idea that there were others like us. You have the guts to post about s**t that I keep inside because I am a chickenshit when it comes to certain emotional expressions. I also admire your intelligence and analytical mind, when you asked us whether you have an anger problem I just couldn't see it. I think that if we lived by each other we would either get along very well and ally against others or piss each other off to no end. There probably would not be middle ground. This is probably more specific than you wanted but its what you got, I don't think about this s**t without specific prompts. There are qualities that others have that I like as well but I am too lazy to think about them now. :D

Thanks, velodog. It's nice to hear something nice from someone for a change. All I get from people is abuse and humiliation, especially from my boss.

I like people who are wise. I think wise people enjoy and let others enjoy. I think it's usually the silly people who make everyone miserable and in the end are miserable themselves too. Taking advantage of others, dumping on them one's nastiness, using, abusing have not been proven as a happiness inducer as far as I know.
