It stinks when you can't have a particular food and it seems like it's in everything.
I remember when I was a vegetarian there weren't a lot of options for vegetarians at the time. Often when I went out to eat, the only thing on the menu that I could have was a salad, and this is back when a salad meant mostly iceberg lettuce. I had to learn to cook and to read labels (you'd be surprised what they put meat products in) and to ask waitstaff detailed questions. It's amazing how stupid waitstaff can be about this. I would ask if something had meat in it, and they would say "No, but it has a chicken base."
I knew someone who had food allergies, and he would always tell the waitstaff that he didn't want to go to the hospital in order to get their attention.
Get creative. You don't have to eat the same things you always have.
Try ethnic foods. They're often based on different ingredients than what you're used to.
Learn to cook.
