Blew up on Monday. Hit my head. Hard. Dealing with the aftereffects of mild concussion. Irritable and skull splitting pain. This week needs an off switch.

Sorry about your noggin.

Can still type okay (check)
Can still use a variety of interesting words (check)

If you can move all your fingers and toes, you'll be all right, eventually.

Being injured sucks, I can relate.

Hope you feel better.

So you had a meltdown? Is that what you mean by blew up? How did you manage to hit your head?

Anyway, take it easy. Don't let other people force you to do anything or go anywhere. :)

*nod* Meltdown, rage took over, slammed forehead into table hard enough for everything to flash white awhile, massive goose egg on brow. Feel embarrassed, frustrated by after effects. Didn't realize exactly how hard I'd hit, now am worried what is wrong as I am still getting spells of dizziness and severe irritability.

Sorry to hear that. Rage is a funny thing...I didn't know about meltdowns till I came to this site because I use to blow up like a bomb out of nowhere and didn't know why. Most people wouldn't think of me as the type and I always wondered why I did this out of nowhere. I guess I recognize this kind of thing as meltdown, but I've also taken anger management for these problems of sudden outbursts.

I had to be hospitalized many times for ripping my hair out or breaking glass that cut my skin. Many times I wasn't aware of the cuts and the severity of them needing stitches b/c I was so mad. I think going to these programs for cognitive therapy such as anger management did A LOT. But I had to be aware of what was making me angry...I still do cos sometimes it isn't always what I assume it to be like the deaths in my family. I kept getting angry at everyone else for petty things.

Anyway, I hope you get better if you haven't already recovered from it. It can be very frustrating especially when you can't communicate in the way you want to with people about problems going on in your life.

makuranososhi,
it will pass, make sure to rest, make as little head movements as possible, and if are getting sick,go hospital for a HI checkup.
if had lost conciousness when head hit-go to hospital.

am get concussion quite regulary due to being a daily headbanger-and find even morphine based painkillers dont help the vibrating deep shocking pain.
the things am find that help pre injury [though may find these too much adaption for self if this is only a rare event] are helmets, and special padding attached to wood onto the walls that get banged the most-these are free off the OT over here if assessed as needing them, but may struggle getting them in US as insurance stuff seems very fussy.

dont keep taking painkillers often because they can add to headache to.
try different things like cold material on head [or warm, depending what helps],sleep, massage, deep pressure,accupuncture.....it should get better over the next few days.

MissC: I've been the same way through my life; inexplicable piques and fits of rage, irrational, severe. I've worked to better handle them, but it seems now when one hits it is especially powerful. I kept hitting my head in frustration; feeling a bit better, but having anxiety issues because due to financial constraints I can't just go get a CT or MRI to ease concerns... having no insurance sucks. Surprisingly, I think the changes that I will be making in my life in the next year will help greatly with the severity because I will be getting away from some long-term stressors, ones that have been around so long I feel like I have bedsores on my mind.

KoR: Thank you, very much. The head slamming is not a common event for me, and first time I've knocked myself for such a loop. Trying to stick to ibuprofen for pain, have painkiller for nighttime if needed. Scared, worried that I did damage inside and don't know it.
