I'm really, really, really stressed out right now. Right now I'm going to school, against my will, to try and make others somewhat satisfied. I simply can't take it anymore. My mom says that I'm killing her with all of the troubles I've been giving her about school. Honestly, I'm not trying to. However, I feel like I am in no control of anything anymore. The biggest issue with school is priorities. This year, I have not learned anything that I didn't already learn in previous years. I feel like I'm wasting my time, while putting up with bad grades, and crap from teachers, peers, and parents. I feel that my time could be SO much better spent doing things I love. I really want to start a business, as well as get into music. I can't do this, because I have to go to school from 7-3, and do homework and s**t, that has ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT TO ME! I'm wasting my time and it is absolutely killing me. What's worst is that my teachers, nor parents, can see and understand my side of things. My brain is so much more developed than most people my age. I'm basically a 30 year old trapped in a 14 year old body.

I don't know what to do, and it kills me that I am wasting these days away for nothing. I could really use some advice. :(

EDIT: Yay, this is my 100th post...

At the age of 14 you are still too young to sign a legal contract so you might as well spend time establishing documentation of your genius through the educational system.

My husband and his brothers all earned PhDs and though none of them currently have jobs in the field that their PhDs are in

those PhDs got their foot in the door with the banks and businesses funding their current projects.

Welcome to life.

I felt the same way in high school -- it was a complete waste of time. Half the year was spent reviewing what all the other kids had forgotten over summer vacation, and most of the teachers were incompetent.

However, you have to get a high school education or you will be flipping burgers for the rest of your life. Fast food is one of the few options available if you don't have a high school diploma -- most other companies won't even look at you if you don't have that piece of paper.

So, since you have to get that piece of paper, instead of fighting against the system, try to make it work for you. Look into alternative schools that might fit you better. Pass your classes the first time so that you never have to take them again. Take as many interesting classes as you can. Educate yourself in whatever spare time you have -- you have access to the internet and there are always libraries. Look into accelerated programs and summer school so that you can get done with school more quickly.

You will have to learn a lot and have a lot of money to start a business. You can start learning and saving now. Look online and at libraries for information on how to start your own business. If you start saving money now, then by the time you're old enough to be able to start a business, you'll have your startup money.

Good luck.

well...;)

I know I come off like the parental units, but honestly, the more education you have, the more options you have in life. They can take your home, your car, your money, but your learning they can't get at.

I can see about the repetition; my daughter's school books (math, 8th grade) read like cookbooks.
College is a whole 'nuther situation; I hope you get there.

I can assure you, school looks easy to me now...;)

Ya gots to go to school. I know, it's a drag. First time I scored 12.9 on all my achievement tests I was in fourth grade, so I was bored spitless. Fortunately I finally had a couple teachers who recognized I was a "lost cause" because they had to teach to the middle of the class to meet everyone else's needs, so they gave me "special assignments." Maybe your parent(s) can choose to be your ADVOCATE and see how your school can better meet your needs.
