Over the last few days, I've been thinking back about a friend I had almost 17 years ago. Thinking back, now, it seems like he was probably my first true love. The two of us were inseperable. I don't know why, but all of a sudden, it is hitting me that he is gone, and I will never see him again. Honestly, for a brief period, I was even contemplating doing what was in my power to join him, though, I think I'm glad I'm over that. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? How did you cope with it?

One girl I knew like 16 years ago. She moved to Boston. She is the best. I miss her. We were best friends. Damn. Everyone I know moved far away

That's kind of the danger of believing in an afterlife, isn't it?
I'm sorry to say, but the only way to cope is to accept that these things happen. Life goes on. For you, anyway, and you should be glad for that. Move on, but don't forget. It's okay to be sad. It's healthy to be sad. But that doesn't mean there isn't more to experience. You have one life. So keep living it, and live it to the fullest, 'cause as much as you might want to think you're getting a sequel, there's an overwhelming lack of evidence that you will. Here's your life. Make the best of it. And always remember how your friend never got a chance to.

Sir Beefy, at least with moving, you know you can still see them, even if a bit of traveling is involved. I still talk to my first gf, even though she lives an 8h drive from here. I wish it were that simple with Todd.

Yeah there was a girl I used to be good mates with (and i kinda fancied but never had the guts to ask out) but now we go to different schools. I do see her occasionaly, but haven't spoken to her properly for nearly a year, and when I think about her it gets me down a bit because I still miss her.

It is human nature to take things for granted until those things are no longer available to us... I myself thought that my entire high school class was made up of jerks that I wouldn't miss once I graduated... If only I could go back and tell myself how wrong I was...
