For anyone who knows me, for the few and infrequent times I have posted, many of you know that I will be moving to Idaho with my family this summer. I really want to go to Boise worse than anyone in my family, mainly because Boise offers me the opportunity to go to my first ever anime convention.
At the end of December, my little sister asked my dad if she could take up an offer to visit my aunt in Boise. My dad agreed. We took my little sister to the airport this last week. I felt envious of my little sister for the fact that she seemed to get to go to Boise earlier. My dad would never purchase a plane ticket to Boise for me to attend Anime Oasis (also the fact is that the convention occurs during an active part of this spring semester that is coming up).
We had to go to pick her up at the airport tonight. While we were driving home, she was talking about going to a certain restaurant in the Boise area. She talked about all of the exciting things she did while she was in boise, which included going to the mall. I tend to associate going to the mall with going to EB Games and spending hours at Borders, while she tend to associate going to the mall with buying clothing. I think it must be the fact that she spends a lot of money on clothing, whil I tend to buy most of my stuff at Walmart (mostly because my dad buys his stuff there, and the subtle expectation is I should get my clothes there cheaply too) and also because most of my shirts are related to anime.
Maybe it was because of the failed "New Jersey" experiment, where I went to NJ in the summer of 2006 in hopes of being able to be a "real nerd" for a change. I went to NJ because it was a densely populated region, in the middle of the BOSWASH corridor, while NW Montana is really in the middle of nowhere. I failed to become independent there, instead falling under the curses of an abusive Indian roommate and being brought back by my dad.
It seems whenever anyone mentions a big city, all I can think of is "ANIME CONVENTION, ANIME CONVENTION, ANIME CONVENTION" and how many nerdy stores they have there. What is wrong with me?
