i have an older brother who's married and have a daugther (15 months now). my dad is very fond of her...to the point of constantly worrying her. last night i overheard him talking to his friend. he said that he doesn't trust people and he's worried that my brother and his wife and their nanny are not capable of taking care of her. he keeps thinking what if one day they slip up and dont watch her and something happens to her. he says if he can, he would rather take care of her himself because he trusts noone else to do it. his friend tried to assure him but he keeps worrying. his friend asked what if my brother has another kid. what if i have a kid. is he going to feel the same way about all his grandchildren? my dad said yes, he didnt trust anyone to take care of his grandchildren, not my brother, not me.

the thing is, he didn't feel this way when my brother or me was a baby. he wasn't this worried with us. but he's extremely worried that something might happen to his granddaughter to the point that he's getting headaches every night.

so yeah...if he keeps worrying like this, i probably shouldnt have kids because it will double his worries.

He should talk to his doctor about some anti-anxiety meds. And his worries shouldn't affect how you live your life.
