I just got my calculus exam back, and I failed it... I don't know how, I was so confident with my answers being right, I did everything I had learned with the help of my tutor, I even looked over the exam and couldn't figure out how I lost so man marks...

I don't know what I am going to do, I don't even know what I can do...

Worse yet, if I don't pass the course, I get kicked out of my program for being too far behind.

To make things even worse again, I can't focus on a single thing to do with that class... and we are covering a topic I know I have difficulty with...

Hello Padium. I really don't know what to say...but I wanted to say something. I feel for you---and it makes me realize just how much I care about other people---even if I have a hard time showing it.

I want to relate something to you that I used to do when I was in school. I would take a topic from a class that I didn't understand very well, and I would pretend I was teaching in front of a classroom on that topic. Of course, I did this in private. But I found that by trying to teach this "topic" that it made me see it in a clearer perspective. I have heard of some who learn something "difficult" by trying to teach in front of a mirror.

I am a teacher. I currently teach the gifted, but for 19 years I taught English. To be honest, I learned so much more about English by teaching it. I truly believe that if you pretend to teach this Calculus to a pretend class you will better understand it. It is worth a try.

I also want you to know that I truly want you to do well. You have a lot of friends here at the WrongPlanet. We are a tough breed.
