Are any of you capable of real emotions? The one I do get intermittently is misery - I think it's a genetic because my human parents lived quite miserable lives and so did all their human ancestors. But as for me I don't think I know what human emotions are.

I think that I have the full range, but under pressure they tend to switch off. Which is bewildering to say the least.

Sadness and occasional happiness.

I feel a full range of emotions. They get pretty strong and aren't uncommon. At times they seem to disappear completely though.

I experience the same thing. It's led to a lot of conflict because people think I'm ignoring them when I'm trying my damndest to say something but am so stressed i literally can't say anything. And then my apologies sound like cop-outs :(

Maybe you are just blocked up, that is you haven't learned much about emotions yet in your life. When I was much younger, I would have intense feelings about some things, but in hindsight I see they were quite simple, and I did not understand them. I've become more self aware, through great effort. I found Marshall Rosenberg's book most helpful in this regard. I just wish I were aware of feelings right away. It still takes me days sometimes to know how I felt about something. By then it's often too late to make the right decision. Life has been very frustrating. Knowing what emotions are in general is one thing, but knowing your own emotions is very valuable. Good luck, whatever path you choose.
