I was cheesed off not to remember a dream this morning, and think had a lot to do with the fact that although i went to bed relatively early, around 11 pm ish, i couldn't get to sleep for ages; brain wouldn't stop whirring, which i put down to having a second coffee yesterday. When don't get enough sleep the brain concentrates on pure rest rather than processing short term memory into long term, and so there will be significantly less REM ( dreaming) sleep.
A "proverb" says that one hours sleep before midnight is worth two after ( a kind of variation in zz zz zz of a bird in hand!!) because the natural "low point" of our bodies falls between 2 and 3 am, after which the body begins to switch itself back on!

I read recently that most people in the "developed" countries are suffering from chronic sleep deprivation, and that this may be having a profound effect on our ability to cope with stress, and process new experiences/information. It may even be having an effect on the personality.
I also read that sleep cycles and bodyclock functions in AS are often fragile or disturbed.
Anyway, i just wondered what times people on wp go to bed! :)

I go between 10.30 and 1.30. The average in recent weeks is probably around midnight. I don't have to get up early, which would really cut into my sleep, so i sleep to around 9 am most mornings, sometimes 10, but the sleep is not so restful after 7/8 in the morning. :(

If you have radically changed your sleeping pattern in the past did you notice any changes in your self and/or life as a result?

I try to get to bed by midnight but my hubbo's a night-owl so if we get talking it's sometimes 1 ish. If I lived on my own I'd probably go to bed about 11. I always read for a while, poetry usually, the rhythm seems to send me off to sleep... ZZZZZZZ

If I don't sleep properly for a few nights I get bad-tempered, so I can understand the sleep-deprivation thing. I definitely feel better after a good sleep, and have more energy.

My bed time is basically whenever I pass out.

I personally, don't like to sleep.

I work 3rd shift so if i dont work overtime i sleep around 5am-7am. When I work longer I may sleep around 9-10am.

Today I have the day off, and am going to try and pull an all dayer (all nighter except I dont sleep during the day).

I usually go to bed at midnight. That gives me time to create.

Typically around 8:30 PM as I have to be up at 3:30 AM if I am working at 5:00 AM. Even on weekends it's early bed, early rise.

I believe that regular and healthy sleep patterns are extremely important for people with AS. I try to be asleep by Midnight. I stay up and watch the first part of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, to get my daily Scottish guy fix, which comes on at 11:35 here. Then I put in the ear plugs, shoo the cats to their respective "beds" (pillows designated for cat sleep), and kill the lights. If I stay up any longer, it really starts to throw off my sleep cycle.

When I'm so exhausted I can't keep my eyes open. It could be at any hour- morning, noon, or night. I can only sleep in increments of two or three hours at a time, though once in awhile I'll surprise myself by staying asleep for a consecutive six hours.

Sometimes, even if I'm beyond exhaustion, I find that it takes an incredibly long amount of time to fall asleep. I'll be laying there in the dark thinking about something absurd. For example, last night I was dead tired, and went to bed around 3:00 in the morning, and I was just laying there with my hands folded on my stomach obsessing about beefing up my low level characters in FFXII and what a nuisance it was going to be. Next thing I know, I roll over and my clock says that It's 6:30 in the morning. Sometimes I'll just lay there, and see soldiers from Civilization IV shuffling about on a map, Tetris pieces aligning, or stupid cards flying around from Solitaire. And I can't get to sleep because these things are stuck in my head.

What's more annoying is falling asleep, and then waking up three hours later, wide awake... And knowing that in about six hours I have to drive somewhere.
