I love sneakers, I've been waiting for a thread like this for so long! Hee are my favorites, the followings I do have and wear:
Nike Air Jordan I, circa 1985
I got these in a black/blue colorway. Nothing like the classics!
Reebok Pump Arrival
I've always been a fan of Reebok Pumps. Some people laugh these off, but there's something about inflatable sneakers I just dig. It's a bit of a sensory thing, though. I like the proprioceptive input it gives my feet when the inflatable chamber surrounds my feet with air. And plus, the coolest things about these particular shoes is that they automatically pumps when you take about 5 to 10 steps, and they have a dial on the side where you can adjust just how tight or how loose you want your shoes to be!
British Knights Leader Mid, circa 1989
I HAD to get these when they released them last Spring. Very comfy and retro coolness! People may snicker at me wearing BK's, but I appreciate this shoe brand, so I don't even care.
Nike Hyperdunk
I love these shoes. They remind me of the infamous Air Mags from the Back To The Future II movie, those extra high-topped sneakers from the year 2015 that Marty McFly wore in the future. In fact, it has been noted that the shoe's designer, Eric Avar, used inspiration from that shoe to make this one. These are my number one faves, and I wear these more than all my other shoes. Very, very light in weight, in spite of how they look! I have the all-black ones.
Nike Vintage Daybreak
These shoes are super comfortable. I liked how they did the "vintage" treatment on these. The original Daybreaks released in 1977. When the Nike Vintage line premiered in stores, I thought those were actual original sneakers, until a stores clerk told me they were selling them. These are my 2nd favorites, up there with the Hyperdunks.
And here are favorites that I don't yet have:
Nike Air Flight Lite, circa 1991
I am a HUGE sucker for high-tops, and I haven't seen any decent ones since the Hyperdunks. Nowadays, high-tops are considered obsolete, but I still think it deserves its existance. I can't be the only one in this world that prefers high-tops to both mids or lows (I'm cool with mids, but I hate lows unless they catch my eyes, I feel like I'll break my ankle in low-tops). I plan on getting these fairly soon. I hope Nike brings more high-tops from the late 80's and early 90's catalogue just like these. I'd definately buy them!
Nike Air Yeezy
Kanye West's signature shoes. The first non-athlete to have his own signature shoes from Nike! That's definately an accomplishment on his part! These caught my eyes not because they are Kanye's sneakers, I could care less who's signatures these were, but because they were high-tops. My ankles are just built for high-tops. Some stay aways from them because of looks and feel, like they'll break their ankles in them. But I like both the look and feel of high-tops, my ankles just feel so safe and secure in high-tops for some reason. I love the year 2088 looks on these as well. But thanks to his ridiculous $200 price tag I'll probably NEVER be able to get these. Curse you, Kanye!! ! LOL
Reebok Pump ERS, circa 1989
Yep, you guessed it. I like these because they're high cut. Plus, unlike most Reebok manual pump sneakers after this, the air bladder in these surrounds your feet with air litterally within a few pushes of the "Pump" ball on the tongue. They were re-released as the Reebok Pump Bringbacks in 2004 and I missed out on them! Hopefully, they'll re-retro these so I can finally have them.
Nike Air Shake Ndestrukt, circa 1995
These were Dennis Rodman's signature shoes when he was with the Bulls. These shoes were very odd in '95 because you had to tie these on the sides instead of tying them the traditional way, but I fell in love with that concept! I actually owned these in '96, when I was 10 years old. These were very popular that year, and I miss these shoes. I hope Nike retros these pronto.
And finally, the almighty Nike Air Mags, circa 2015
AKA the "Air Mcfly" from Back To The Future II, from 1989. I think Nike are crazy for not retroing these! I know they were just made only for the movie, but demand for these unique sneakers are so high, that sales would go through the roof should they ever release them. Plus, they've already made shoes similar to these, the Hyperdunk and the upcoming Hyperlites and Hypermax, both to arrive this Summer. They've even did a limited edition version of "Mcfly" Hyperdunks with the Air Mag colorway that were limited to only, get this, 2,015 pairs! See below:
Since they're making all these lookalikes, they might as well have remade these!
Whew! I know it seemed like I got carried away but I'm enthusiastic about this thread. It'll be interesting to see what others have posted. I might post other favorites soon.
