I also used to take Adderall at work, and it worked if I took alot. It's fairly addictive though. After I would do it for a week straight, I withdrew pretty hard for 3 or 4 days. :ncool:

About the only stimulant that I use is really strong coffee and the very occaisional Redbull. The Coffee works fine, though I try not to indulge in it in the afternoon/evening, and the Redbull also works as well. The coffee sometimes helps to to keep in focus.

My first two cups of coffee are a nice buzz - but then they make me sleepy after that.

I read somewhere that ice cold water is a good pick-me-up for those late-afternoon blues. It does help but I would prefer to get a kick from caffeine.

Then again, I put a TON of sugar in my coffee. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I have such a high tolerance to caffeine it does absolutely nothing, if that counts, then no.

If you have a high tolerance, I found drinking stimulants actually has a calming effect.

Yes. The amount of coffee I used to drink at my old university kept me in a state of chronic caffeine intoxication. ;)

Fortunately, my new university's coffee is so utterly repulsive that I am in no danger of that happening.

Caffeine doesn't work at all on me, and for my AS friend as well. I guess some people with AS or Autism just can't process caffeine.

How are we gauging works or don't work?

For example, if you're drinking coffee, are you just introspecting to see if you feel more alert &c, or for example, do you metabolize a bunch and fail to observe physiological effects?

We will just feel 'high' for a while... before we decide, 'heck, I'll have another cup again soon to remain this high' when we feel languid...

I seem to flip back and fourth between being woken up by them and being put to sleep.

I was on adhd meds at age 3 to 18, so I don't know it it had anything to do with my strange reaction to them.

Some do, some don't. Depends on what you mean by "work".
Adderall worked wonderful for me. It calmed me down and made my brain work at a normal pace finally.. while making me feel more awake physically. But now I have to take the generic version (mixed amphetamines) because it's much cheaper and I find it doesn't work as well at all.. Sigh.

Caffeine however doesn't really effect me. It'll make me jittery maybe but that's about it. I always feel more sleepy afterwards.

Ephedrine doesn't seem to have an effect on me, either.
