It's just something I noticed about myself. I'm never really convinced by ads to go out and buy or use the thing being promoted. To me ads are just like little movies, I watch them carefully without actually realising that a response of some kind from me is the main reason for the ad itself.

Any others kinda know what I'm talking about? And how do you guys respond to still images and ads on the radio?

sometimes ads go as far as to enfuriate me

not only am i not fooled by them, but i am personally insulted. the volume is pumped up on the ads, and im sitting there in my own home, minding my own business, writing my stuff, w some movie in the background, and suddenly a guy YELLS in my ear "DRINK FANTA! DRINK IT NOW! GIVE ME YOUR CASH!! !"

wth :(
ads are intrusive, and all advertisement should be banned+severely punished.

In other words, they give you lots of personality.

I am not fond of them, especially not those Lørdagspizza commercials, they get worse and worse, It began with Lørdagspizza, then Full pakke, the songs are lame, and the orignial grandioza is better.

No because I know all the advertising tricks in the book, especially those "act now" and "limited time" things. They're not fooling me!

I do, however, fall for the food ones sometimes, such as restaurants and fast food joints. They make it look so stinkin' appetizing!

I give a s**t about ads. On the computer I have them blocked and on TV I walk away when they come or turn sound off....their presence use to disturb my life so no wonder why I never catch any of their messages....

AD blocker on the computer.

DVR to FF through ads on the TV.

Screw ads. Screw the feeble minded people who believe in ads. As long as idiots act on what they see in the ads, we will continue to be bombarded by ads.

Ads are deceptive, not to mention redundant. When I need something I'll go out there and find the best product available. I don't need an actor with a voiceover by yet another actor telling me about "our" product (screen actors guild makes cars now? fascinating!! !) and how I should give them my money and not their competitor because their competitor sucks!

That's what the ads look like from where I sit.

Adverts don't really interest me, I don't usually care much about what is advertised on TV, and they don't often make me want to go out and buy something.

I dislike alot of ads because when they take pictures or "show" a product, it's not actually the product as it will be for the consumer.

Like Burger commercials. That burger isn't really going to be that big, juicy, and neatly and artistically arranged.
That mascara really won't make your eyelashes look like that. The model is wearing fakies.

Why is it that in the weight loss commercials, the models are always slouching, pushing out the belly, wearing an ugly outfit, pale and pasty, and in poor lighting in the "Before" pics, but in the "After" pics, they are standing up straight, sucking in the belly, wearing a hot revealing outfit, perfectly tanned, with perfect lighting?
How can I be able to tell the real difference if there are so many inconsistencies?

It's all deception! :x

Interestingly, I think most people would say they are not influenced by advertisements. But, clearly, most people are because it works.

I'm going to have to join the "I don't think I am" brigade. I love jingles, actually, but I can often listen and sing the jingles or watch an interesting advertisement without even registering what product they are attempting to promote lol. I just like snappy tunes.

I read articles sometimes about the things that advertisements/stores do to trick you into spending more and I usually go "Duh! That's just obvious.." but the fact that they are writing articles about it indicates that it is not obvious, doesn't it? I find most advertising tricks to be very blatant and insulting to the intelligence. (Especially the "you will be popular and get girls if you buy this!" or "everyone's doing it, you should too." stuff. I mean come on!!) But the fact that they work says something about people, I think.

The only time an advertisement may influence me to get the product is if its something I need or like that I didn't know existed until I saw an ad lol. So marketing is useful to gain exposure for your product, imo. Or I'd get something I needed anyway that has gone on sale. But as for gimmicks, I'd say no. I don't buy things I don't need just because they are promoted by attractive people or are in a shiny package or are on a more accesible shelf of the store.

There are some that I hate. I hate all the Intel adverts.... I like to mix some words with the tune... "now f**k right off!!" :D

Classic adverts are better...
Tango
Maynards fruit pastels .... lol

wow I was just thinking about this today!

I guess I do fall for some, mainly stuff that's new and I become curious for trying it. I don't get convinced by celebrities or footballers trying to tell me that some product is awesome and it's super-cool to use it, I always remember that they get paid to say that.

I'm trying to think about the last advert that made me buy something but I really can't remember any...

You can guess why I stopped watching TV.

 that is so true. I can't stand ads. I tune them out or switch the channel. Plus, my kids grew up at an early age hearing me rant about marketing and how things are made to look cooler/faster/more exciting just to get you to buy it. So now my 4 year old spits it back out "Ugh. Mommy, they're trying to make me buy it cuz it's lookin reeeeeeallllly cool. "
