Do you get annoyed when people continually correct you?

When I am holding on to a piece of paper or pamphlet, I tend to crumple it with my hands after a few minutes unknowingly. My brother and mom always suddenly point out that I am crumpling the paper and they are like "What are you doing? Why are you crumpling the piece of paper?"

It gets so annoying because I do it over and over again and I think to myself "Why bother lecture me and be so judgemental when you know that it will happen again? Its not like I am doing it on purpose to annoy you or anything."

I completely understand that one. I actually do the same exact thing. It is an automatic thing. What should it matter to anyone whether or not you crumple the paper up? Teachers used to hate that I would do that to assignments, even if it was unintentional. People just need to learn to calm down and not freak out over the slightest things like that.

How is that correcting?

I get annoyed when people tell me how to eat like "slow down."

That annoys me to no end. Don't correct me for things that I can't help.

I tend to repeat myself while looking for the words I am going to say next and I absolutely hate when people get angry because of it. I dont understand how someone else thinks its ok to tell me how to talk or how my brain should think. My mother is the worst with pointing this out and usually thinks I am angry.

Re: OP - I don't really get this too much. However, I often make long pauses in the middle of a sentence, trying to find the right words. People tend to try to say various words/phrases with the intent of helping me find my own. I find this extremely annoying and obtrusive, as it actually makes my brain lock up so that I CANT gather my words and makes me feel rushed at the same time... a bad combination.

It's the other way around for me. I'm usually the one correcting others.

my big sister used to harp on me vigorously, because i would eat my sandwiches [still do, btw] in a circle so i could get the yucky crust out of the way and then concentrate on the yummy middle. i still to this day haven't understood her objections to this sandwich eating method. she would insist that i had to be like regular folk and eat my sandwiches the only correct way, front to back. she is the NT and i am the aspie.

Do they ever! My spelling mishaps (i've got dyslexia got it and if you were able to make out what i was meaning then stop going on at me), people go on about how i overuse certain words/sentences endlessly like "hi" "how are you", don't mither me on how i can't catch a ball,keys etc.

To me its nothing to correct, so let me be.

Yes, I get very annoyed. Especially if it's the very slightest error. It makes me want to start correcting them crazily.

People don't continually correct me. But I welcome a reasonable amount of criticism, as it can help me improve myself.

I don't like to be corrected.
