I was just wondering if anyone else has this, or a similar needle-point hobby? Most people I know like to crochet or knit. That makes my fingers ache. I love the idea of drawing with stitches. I've done a few x-stitches of my own design. The one I am most proud of is that of a unicorn and blue pheonix facing each other. I cant resist buying stitch thread anytime I go into a craft store. I'm always on the look out for cheap x-stitch kits. One of my few obsessions 8)

i used to cross stitch when i was about 13. i remember being told to go out and enjoy the sunshine instead of staying indoors and cross stitching for hours on end in the middle of summer lol so i took my needle and thread outside and sat on the curb cross stitching all by myself. i used to design my own 'x' patterns too, and i used to like buying different coloured threads.

also, when i was about 10 i had an indian weaving/bead loom that i used to spend hours/days on.

i enjoyed that much more than cross stitching and it didn't make my fingers ache. and i like the feel of the beads on the loom too.

I had something similar to that myself. I used it for making bracelets.

I like to do cross stitch. I find it calms me down. It is sort of like paint by numbers with thread. If I'm feeling down I like to do something creative to cheer me up.

I like to crochet too. Although I find it difficult to get a good crochet pattern. The last thing I made was a baby cardigan for my sister's sister-in-law.

I also make cards. I absolutely love craft shops and love to find half price card making materials.

I like to make my own clothes too, but I haven't done that for a long time.
