I have a photographic memory. I am more interested in having a RAM type of memory so I can keep and access what I want when I want, but can also delete the stuff I don't want.

Since two and five months for me I can remember stuff... yes, my memory is photo/videographic, but switches off when i space out, or I am really upset/angry. It is good when it comes to school tests and I haven't studied! As a result, I can draw well :D

Eidetic memory over here (verified).

Personally, I'd rather just forget about the day before, each day, and start anew, rather than relive the same pain over and over again.

I have an extremely selective memory. I have a near perfect recollection of anything that interests me, like science and software technology/algorithms, but forget boring things immediately. After reading about my preferred subjects, I can mostly retell everything word perfect months beyond.

I have a very poor memory. I cannot remember what I have been doing for more than a week before. Days blur together and it feels like I drift through life.

I wish that I didn't have a photographic memory.

Me too. My memory used to be rather good when I was younger, but over the years it has deteriorated significantly. I'd wager it could be a side effect of my long-term benzodiazeprine use; only as the doctor has prescribed, but I can't help but find myself wondering what kind of cognitive damage has been done in the 5 years I've been on Xanax.

On topic: On one hand, I'm a bit envious of the people with photographic memories, because it's useful for being a good artist. On the other hand, I would be terribly depressed and probably be driven insane if I had to relive bad memories/nightmares over and over.

Same here.

I count myself lucky though, "what has been seen can not be unseen" but with a memory like mine it can be easily forgotten.

I don't know what it's called, but I have an auditory version of a photographic memory. So, if I watch a foriegn language film with subtitles, at the end of the film I can remember what expressions went with which lines... it's certainly helped me learn languages. Isn't much good when the subtitles are inaccurate (fortunately I already spoke French, so Cyrano didn't kill me.)

I used to wonder why other people found it so hard to learn languages, and assumed that other people remembered conversations verbatim, etc. Of course, I've since found out this isn't so. I have been tested for it, though not officially. A friend of mine once played a dialogue for me, then took me out for dinner - we went to the pictures, had a couple of drinks, came back. Then I wrote out the conversation, and he played it back... and was shocked at how accurate I was.

It has it's uses, but it's also very upsetting when I've had an argument and can't get it out of my head.

On good days I like it
On bad days i'd give it to you any day.
...and the only way to make it stop is to fall asleep...

in one aspect it is awe-some, and if it fit with societies needs, or if they made respectable use of me, it would be rewarding. but now I don't want to give this world anymore than they all ready have taken from me.
I don't owe society anything...
I have already given my everything...
And I'd gladly give my life but it has no apparent value...

I can remember back to 1990, and how my dad and I would drive around town. My most vivid memories occurred when my sister, Josephine died in 1991 when I was 2.

I have a photographic memory. *shrug* It doesn't necessarily mean you have a good memory. At least, it doesn't for me.

Start with a pornographic memory and build on that
